I am now in RWS although it is stated that the place opens at 9am on weekends n PH,to my disappointment only the porridge n nasi lemak, dim sum n drinks stall were open. The popular stalls open only at about 1130. Now still waiting for penang char kway teow n prawn mee to open. So far I had the penang chendol, ampang yong tau foo and pork porridge and all were delicious!

Btw, if u drive, u can park at the in
Universal studio carpark n don’t need to pay the gateway fees to sentosa. But the parking charges can be expensive.

Just tried the penang prawn mee. At this time they already ran out of pork ribs!

The prawn mee was simply heavenly!

            Tried many stalls to day.

Goodness knows how much calories I have gained today!

Believe it or not, I had both lunch and dinner there today!

            My grading :
            5 stars - excellent
            4 stars - very good
            3 stars - good
            2 stars - average
1 star - CMI (cannot make it)

Porridge $5.50 (mixed pork and innards)- consistency smooth- 5 stars.
Penang prawn mee $5.00 - sweet and tasty soup - 5 stars.
Penang Chendol $2.50 - wonderful gula melaka and coconut milk, had 2 rounds of this (lunch and dinner) - 5 stars.

Claypot chicken rice with salted fish $7.00 - piping hot - 4 stars
KL wanton mee $4.00- noodles of right consistency - 4 stars

Penang Char Kway teow $5.00 - 3 stars
Found this rather disappointing cos was expecting it to be good from the reviews I got. Possibly cos I was the first customer, maybe the wok not seasoned yet? I found it too oily and it lack the lard flavour.

            Ampang yong tau foo - $5.00- 3stars.
It is good, but I’d rather eat the Fulin yong tau foo at Siglap.

Malacca chicken rice ball - 2 stars
Half chicken $15, individual chicken rice (ball) - $4
            No rice from this stall.
The rice is compressed into a rice ball.
I prefer our normal local Hainanese chicken rice.

              tankee:
              saw the advertisement on Today

found it strange that not all the stalls are named, most of them are just labelled with the cities where the food is famous. Perhaps these are not from the famous stall in those cities.

Hi Tankee, I will not be surprised if we have different \"versions\" in Singapore. Malaysia states and food varieties are too varied.
(our own Katong Laksa's' is a good example, everyone got their own preferred version).

Nothing beats the real stuff when we travel up North, but I think Sentosa will provide a decent substitute 😛

                CareBear power ! :yikes:

thanks for the useful feedback (both positive and negative).

Personally, I believe Hawker fare offer alternative for my meal options (cannot afford too much Michelin branded restaurants 😛 )

Wow Carebear, you really tried a lot of food there. I was there for lunch during the weekend and we had:

                  1. Penang Char Kway Teow
Mine tasted yummy and with lots of pieces of lard. We would give it 5 stars.

                  2. Hainanese Lor Mee
Tasted good too but normal, nothing special. 3 stars.

                  3. Chee Chong Fun and crispy beancurd
We will not eat it again. No standard. No star.

Wanted to try Claypot Chicken Rice but need to wait for 1 hour so did not order. Chicken Rice stall runs out of rice balls, still cooking, left chicken only, so did not get to try too.

Sounds like it’s very popular. Is it better on weekdays? Or must we queue for like 1 hour on weekdays as well?

Do not try the ‘Pa Sen Ba Kuh Teh’ there! It is horrible!! Very poor quality with very small pieces of bone+a little meat. Did not deserve any star at all.

The Yong Tau Fu, Chicken Rice and Chendol were all 4-5 stars …yummy!

thank you for sharing Atan, I believe the original Port Klang BaKuTeh should be better, but alas, out of the way 🙂
