      Shalomger,

our kiddos might well be classmates back in their kindy days 😄 my dd1 is also in P4 this year! Agree that LSK is a great kindy. My dd2 just started Nursery with them this year, although we have also moved away from Hougang. I still see many familiar faces amongst the teachers. dd2 looks forward to going to school everyday.

          Hi shalomger and bebebub,

Glad to hear that. My girl just started nursery with LSK this year too. (bebebub, our girls may be classmates. 😄 ) My girl loves going to school too. She doesn't speak much chinese but she surprised me by singing a chinese children song the other night. I noticed the school also inculcate to the boys to have this \"ladies first\" mindset, be it going back to classroom or going to the toilet. That's nice. 😄

cmeilim, best that you call up the school and ask them about the procedure and when to apply. The school admin, Jenny is a very nice lady. She will advise you.

            dokomo,

my dd is in the 8.30 session. Ya, my dd also dun speak much mandarin. But I can see her getting used to the language already - she’s been singing the chinese songs learned during assembly n chinese class. Her chinese teacher has been with LSK for a long time.

            cmeilim,
Registration is usually in the month of April/May. Priority registration is given to siblings of existing students. For Nursery, it is capped to a maximum of 2 classes per session. Hence, limited vacancies. Call and check with Jenny, in case there are changes in your year of application.

For those who are keen in registering their children for 2013, I found the following info on LSK's website regarding enrolment.

              http://www.lsbc.org.sg/simple-discipleship-church/essential-community/living-sanctuary-kindergarten/registration/

For first-timers like our family, it will be in April.

Does anyone know whether first-timers also need to queue very early before 9am outside the church kindy on the first day it is open for public registration?

                  This is what I observed:

worship songs during morning assembly - can see the kids love this, mealtime grace when breakfast is served, and an occasional bible story during lesson time.

My nursery dd comes back and tells me letter sound of the alphabets she learned. So I presume LSK has a in-house phonics program in place. HTH.

Today was my first day with my boy at Living Sanctuary N2.

Frankly, I thought the head teacher for my boy’s class Mrs Quek was easy to communicate with. I like her voice which is clear and firm. But er, can I say the chinese teacher in my hubby’s words "kinda half past six impression".

It was kinda weird when we waited for her after snack/ meal time. In the end, the teacher had to go out to hunt for her. I heard her minutes later mumbling and laughing behind as she entered that she forgot…huh?

And because the other classes were conducted consecutively her voice which is sometimes abit muffled (though loud strange huh) can’t hold the kids’ attention much less english speaking kids so some were sent to stand aside from the class…my boy totally can’t be bothered sigh. The teaching was fast, and ended just as abruptly as she appeared. She seems very strict though yet kind at times. Just that her teaching kinda (at least today to me) left much to be desired. I felt the other teachers kinda surpassed that bit compared to her.

I have never sent my boy to any enrichment class much less teach him to write…my bad cos I was too busy with work at home, spending time talking to him, and my mom that I neglected this part. However he has picked up reading and some phonics on his own, he is more or less pretty clear on shapes. can count etc. But his mandarin lolz…I am very english speaking so…erm, yah. Though I used to be good at mandarin, I did it out to get good grades then er, threw everything behind me. (Sorry very frank).

So to me the mandarin was one of the most crucial to me.
Just wondering did you guys always had the same mandarin teacher or did they just changed? I know it’s the first day so I am just going to give it more time.

any one else experienced this or is it just us today? hmmm…
