Yup, trying to change my reaction behaviour

I tried dripping the ear drop in my gal’s ears but she complained ticklish. The GP says must drop for 3 days for the ear wax to soften. After that she can do the flushing for us. But everytime I tried the 1st day, my gal will not let me drop anymore…headache leh…how ah…Do your ear feel itchy after putting the ear drop?

My DS had both his ears \"flushed\" the first time a few months back (he's 4 yos). Initially we went to another doc and she gave him Tropex but after the first lump came out, it did not work for the rest.

We did not know how much was stuck in there till we went to our regular GP. After the wash, he was so happy, plus his behaviour also changed for the better in school. The amount of wax must have blocked his hearing too much that he could not understand what was being taught or he was using too much energy to listen to what the teachers were teaching that he became irritated after some time.

Lately I saw a lump of wax near the opening of DS ears.....have also used ear drops before but he complained of tickle and refuse to let me drip... :mad:

Yes very true. I'm still learning this lesson. Sometimes I have the presence of mind to stop and check, but sometimes I'm so rush to get things done or too tired, I forget the experiences that taught me those lessons.

The greatest love to shower our child is not the number of As that we can help them to achieve; it's the number of times we can practise the \"stop and check\" before we lash out our tongues...

Kids make us better persons if we have the power to reflect...

don’t stick anything into your baby’s ear canal as a way of dislodging earwax. You risk rupturing his tissue-thin eardrum, and you’re likely to make the earwax problem worse by pushing the wax further into the canal.


If there’s wax on your baby’s outer ear, you can wipe it away with a cotton swab or, better yet, a wet washcloth. But if you think he has wax buildup inside his ear, ask his doctor to take a look at it during a routine visit.

XD my mom usually just uses a pin to stick it into my ear and dig out the earwax.

No problems so far. It's been 13 years my mom has been doing that and maybe even 20++ years (for my elder siblings)

Using a pin to dig out the earwax is more economical and cheaper.

It's more like the 1930s-1990s way of digging out earwax the cheap way.

Because in the past, parents tend to be more scrimp-and-save. Moreover there wasn't any technology nor advanced chemistry to create liquids specially to wash out the earwax.

USE A PIN TO DIG OUT THE EARWAX ;IF YOU ARE THE SCRIMP-AND-SAVE KIND OF MOTHERS.

Trying to dig out earwax with those hairpins also itch.

It's a natural reaction I guess, to protect your earwax from any harm. LOL

At the drugstore you can get an ear wax removal system where you basically wash the wax out yourself. You can try a little peroxide in your ear as well. Just a few drops.
