At P3, are we really so particular about whether the child is phrasing in a 'prediction mode' or 'conclusion mode'? It'll be scary if it is. The key phrase 'lost its magnetism' is already there. If the teacher really gives such a reason, I must say the teacher is really lame.

There is no difference in meaning between the child's answer and the teacher's answer.

A child would be a real genius if he or she sets out to go into prediction or conclusion mode in his/her answers.

My Son Got a Question \"Is Apple a livingthing \" and he wrote yes. but got it wrong. The answer was non living thing.


but being grown from flower to fruit and then have seeds to grow further shouldnt it be a living thing....

please help with some explanation. I am not sure how to explain my boy.

An apple is a living thing only when it is still on a tree. However, when you bought the apple in the market, it would have been a non-living thing. It no longer grow in size ( a condition for being a living thing).

An apple is a living thing only when it is still on a tree. However, when you bought the apple in the market, it would have been a non-living thing. It no longer grow in size ( a condition for being a living thing).

Grow in size is not a condition for classifying living thing. My parents do not grow in size, but I do.

Basic needs of living things are air, water and food. Once an apple is plucked, it does not need air, water and food.

If you look at all the characteristics of living things (don't think too deep, just look at the 5 - 6 in the text book), apple falls under the non living thing category.

The seeds ARE living, but the APPLE is not. Just imagine, we wear clothes, but when the clothes are on us, are they living?
