        chixchix,

I just sent you a pm with the info....

The standard rate for Indian maids is around $1200. I just spoke to another agent who seems very decent. I may take a new maid from her. But feeling real scared and don't want this to be repeated....

The problem is that if we want to work, we need maids, esp if there are children at home. And with this quality of maids - sometimes think it's better if I became a SAHM.....

just cancel the permit and take her frm the agent and send her back or she may complain to foreign manpower and they will write and call u for interview, once cancelled explain that she is illegal and have no choice but to leave. Save yrself the stress of whether she will got to foreign manpower , they have enforcement officers there. ai yah if she has no loan, buy the ticket and send her back… she may be revengeful and just go to foreign and complain… really ive come across situation like this before, dont give her a chance to run , just send her back, u are the employer.

            moonee,

Can I do it now? I have sent her back to the agent? Can I still cancel her WP and buy her a ticket? What if the agent does not tell me where she is living? Or worse, tells the maid to run away?

Since you have already sent her back to agent, canceling the work permit and send her back home would be abit more troublesome. The agent is now holding her passport and only agent know where is the maid now. This means you may need to get the enforcement officers involve to get the maid out of the agent’s Hse ( where we don’t know). Then you must be prepared to forgo the money and air ticket. So from this lesson, you must remember if you are determine to send maid home, never get an agent involved.

                Need advice.

If my helper is going for home leave, what documents does she need to bring back. She is from Philip.

Called up the agency and he want to charge me $250 for processing fees.

My helper told me i should have a copy of certificate of authentication to certify the employment contract between her and me. She need that to exit from Philip airport

                Does you gal have it?

Yes, need to have the certified contract for home leave and also need to apply for exit pass at the embassy. My agent charged me $350 for that when my filo maid went on home leave last year.

Tigger88, did ur agency give a copy of certificate of authentication to u when ur helper came to work for you?

My maid told me agent should give a copy of it. Because with the certificate than we can apply the home leave on our own.

Now i realised i dunt have my maid insurance policy too.

I do not recall having a copy from the maid's agency. I understand that the contract is only valid for 2 years. So every time after my maid completes her 2 yrs with me, that contract is almost or already expired so gotta re-apply at the embassy again.

When maid first arrive, the employer does not have the letter of authentication. This is only need when the maid goes back on home leave. So, employer will only need to get it done when required.

For processing home leave for your Filipina maid, you can actually DIY. It’s cheaper (savings of at least $50 to $100+) but of course, time consuming.

Just go to the Philippines Embassy website to find out all the details (cost, documents required). You will need to :
                        1. Purchase the required insurance as stated on the website first before going (note : different from the standard insurance policy)

                        2. Print out and fill up all the forms

                        3. Bring your maid along to the embassy to process the documentation. Be prepared to wait 3-4 hours on a bad day. So try to go at non-peak.

                        4. Return another day to collect the contract/letter of authentication.

Bringing along all those documents stated on the website, the maid will not have problems in/out of the country. With the letter of authentication still valid (2 years), the maid can just buy the exit permit any time she wants to return home for visit. Exit permit can be purchased at Lucky Plaza.

Agents charge a lot for doing simple jobs like that. : ( I’ve done that 3 times for my maids. If your maid is smart enough, can just let her go by herself to do the documentation.
