Tigger88, did ur agency give a copy of certificate of authentication to u when ur helper came to work for you?

My maid told me agent should give a copy of it. Because with the certificate than we can apply the home leave on our own.

Now i realised i dunt have my maid insurance policy too.

I do not recall having a copy from the maid's agency. I understand that the contract is only valid for 2 years. So every time after my maid completes her 2 yrs with me, that contract is almost or already expired so gotta re-apply at the embassy again.

When maid first arrive, the employer does not have the letter of authentication. This is only need when the maid goes back on home leave. So, employer will only need to get it done when required.

For processing home leave for your Filipina maid, you can actually DIY. It’s cheaper (savings of at least $50 to $100+) but of course, time consuming.

Just go to the Philippines Embassy website to find out all the details (cost, documents required). You will need to :
          1. Purchase the required insurance as stated on the website first before going (note : different from the standard insurance policy)

          2. Print out and fill up all the forms

          3. Bring your maid along to the embassy to process the documentation. Be prepared to wait 3-4 hours on a bad day. So try to go at non-peak.

          4. Return another day to collect the contract/letter of authentication.

Bringing along all those documents stated on the website, the maid will not have problems in/out of the country. With the letter of authentication still valid (2 years), the maid can just buy the exit permit any time she wants to return home for visit. Exit permit can be purchased at Lucky Plaza.

Agents charge a lot for doing simple jobs like that. : ( I’ve done that 3 times for my maids. If your maid is smart enough, can just let her go by herself to do the documentation.

            moonee,

Can I do it now? I have sent her back to the agent? Can I still cancel her WP and buy her a ticket? What if the agent does not tell me where she is living? Or worse, tells the maid to run away?

Most of the agents that I have used would not mind the employer sending the maid back provided the loan has been fully paid... In yr case, if the loan is cleared the agent cant say anything and u need not sign her transfer form. The agent is suppose to advise and take instructions frm u and what u wish to do as u are her legal employer. Tell them u decided to send her back and will bear all cost, the agent can buy the ticket or u can do it yourself and save on the transport.. Ask them if they are gonna be responsible if she falls or run....its not up to the maid whether she wants to stay in spore. You can follow up with an email regarding yr conversation with them and cc to MOM. I remember reading that employers are to repatriate the maid if their services r no longer required Anyway,,dont think the agent will make the maid run cos they will have to be responsible and u can complain against them...think ur agent sucks, what does he mean ,,cant cancel w/p if she doesnt wnt to go back. Once u cancel, they cant transfer her.

hi. u are the employer. u have all the rights to cancel the work permit and send her a flying ticket back home. if the maid refused to go home after a period of days that the work permit is cancelled, that means she is an illegial overstayer in singapore.

The only issue i forsee in sending her back would be: the agent refusing to bring her to airport, and u have to do it urself.

I think this insurance is stated on the Philippines Embassy website.

It’s a $7000 insurance required by them when processing the letter of authentication. I supposed to cover the maid should anything happens to her during the period of homeleave.

This can be purchased from any of the insurance company, but so far, I think INCOME is the cheapest around (price can just check INCOME website). Just go to the insurance company with all the necessary documents (passport,WP) and you can get it on the spot.

With this insurance, just bring over to the embassy to process the contract/letter of authentication, and make another trip to collect the letter and purchase the exit permit.

Anyway, for info, a contract (same copy for homeleave) is needed should your maid need to renew her passport in SG. Documents required are almost the same as processing for homeleave. So, if you are doing both together, you save some money.

agree with smurfy, but even if this agent does not wish to send, can always pay other agents to do it, normally the agent make money when u get them to buy the tickets and transportation, besides they are going to airport nearly everyday so should be no issue. i just paid anothr agent 60 bucks to send my maid off instead of using similar agent.

My cunning maid mi mi wanted desperately to stay in spore cos she knew i wont tansfer her, hah!! tried to sabo me too.

simply said, they dun deserved a chance to be transferred out to exploit another family… better send them flying tickets home.

maids are always maids, never a helper. if they are called helper, we wouldn’t have so much problems.
