not so, I heard from one of the woodlands school student 's parents only top 2 classes were invited and informed .

Between during recess time my son called. Mummy Happy news . I was dreaming :celebrate: he will say the Yellow envolpe but to my sadness. he said he got 100/100 in Maths . I didnt even know whether what to express and my son was too sad that I didnt congratulate him. :stupid: Another day starts for eager waiting mums
I think the school may not have implemented this correctly, or there is some misinformation.

MOE policy is to screen ALL students.

In my son's school, there is one or two from the \"lesser\" classes that passed the first selection test (out of 10 plus students passed). They might not have good results, but they can be intelligent. And these are the ones that have the true innate giftedness, without assistance.

Leeven, congrats to your son. At least for this one, he'll get a prize for being top scorer in Math! πŸ˜„

Frankly, I do not believe that GEP screening was only for selected class. Many very very smart kids do not make it to the top classes because of Chinese, esp so for boys who are generally weaker in language. That one subject alone can pull down their averages by a lot.

GEP is a weird thing among parents. It's kinda hush-hush. We don't talk about it with other parents unless we're sure their kids got past the 1st screening - we think it is out of consideration for their feelings but when it does come out accidentally, have you encountered these replies :
\"Oh, we don't care about such things.\" or \"Was there such a test? My child didn't tell me. Guess he/she didn't sit for it.\" The mother who replied the latter, we later found out that her 2 daughters (yup different years and yet, she claimed ignorance) didn't get past the 1st screening. So, I guess those are \"save face\" remarks, not that they need to cos it's normal not to get into GEP. πŸ˜„

Actually, you just fax the form back to MOE. πŸ™‚ Maybe email these days.

It’s meant as a joke lah, turquoise.

agree on the sensitivity, and thus did not wanna ask my sis in law when my nephew give me the blank stare on whether he has taken the screening.
