Optimistforum is in the UK. His kids study there. However, he tends to purchase local assessment books for his kids as he finds them much more challenging than the ones found in the UK.

I do not believe he intends to 'drill' his kids into the GEP programme. Rather, it is for the purpose of exposing them to more mentally stimulating materials. Perhaps he feels his kids are able to tackle them.

Please correct me if I am wrong, optimistforum πŸ˜„

content inside GEP Maths at Popular looks \"chim\".

even if got 1% GEP kids, Popular will still want to make $ out of 1%.

The one for GEP preparation? That's for 100% of the P3 population. 40,000-50,000 students? Got good money to be made there. Same as all those so-called GEP-preparation classes which charge an arm and a leg. Especially with all the anxious parents these days.

If I were Popular I'd target the P3 market and not the P4-6 GEP students. Most of these students should be bright enough and would be well-supported by their schools.

Sorry didn't make myself very clear. It's not GEP prep book but cater to GEP/MO Students. The content is not at all \"chim\"! It's what they are doing in GEP. I find some qtns similar to their GEP worksheet.

Forget anoint GEP prep class. If u want to send your kids, try MO instead.

Oh I was referring to the GEP Math Prep books, the photos of which were posted here just now but I don’t see them anymore. Says GEP Prep on the front.

Actually no need for the GEP workbooks if the questions are the same as those provided by the schools for GEPpers right?

Yup..I'm referring to the last 3 books. Not all the qtns appear in the worksheet or vice versa. Only a few. At least it's a good revision book for them to recap for exam.

:faint: Aiya, the father is just asking for some resources. We are here to help each other.

I dont know why he wants the resources becos the father and his kids are not in Singapore, as shared by him in the other threads.

Since I know popular has, I share the infor lor.

The one in popular is only for GEP maths

                Yup, that's what I posted

Hi autumnbronze (I do love that name)

Autumnbronze and SAHM_TAN - Thank you for your support.

To the other posters: I like the Singaporean books and education system, and so I use them as enrichment activities. Next year my son will enter for entrance exainations to some independent senior schools, and I want to test his cognitive skills - as the tests will test for these. Therefore GA tests booklets are what I am looking for.

I have managed to find GA books from Australia, which I have now ordered, and a website, which also contains online GA tests. They are prsented below. I just happen to prefer using books from Singapore, and as I cannot really review the titles before I purchase, I tend to go on other posters' opinions.

I received some books in the post last night and they seem ok, the link is http://www.pascalpress.com.au/SearchResults.asp?Search=general+ability

                  http://mathemafix.com/

                  Tests for P4-P5 and P6-P7: http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/learning/k-6assessments/shsplacement/ss_sampletest.php

                  http://www.selectivetests.com.au/

Hope this helps. The last website has great free examples.

                  O

PS I have just come back from a Disneyworld holiday and when I visited a local bookstore in Orlando, I noticed they were selling Singaporean Maths books.

                    content inside GA seems good:-

                    http://books.google.com.sg/books?id=sYC8REnKMYwC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false

GA qns usually appear in Round 2 of the P3 GEP screening tests, not so much of Round 1.

And these are the practice sections. After the sections displayed, the ones you do not see in your link are teh tests with assorted questions from each of the 13 sections.

PS to KSP, which Maths books would you recommend? I wonder if the Maths 2 and 3 Creative Series would be useful. Please give me your thoughts?

these few GA books you recommend are great!

they are "think of the box" questions!
