      Eagle-Ladybird:
yeap, BOSCH for us too. So far so good. Can't recall the price, so not sure whether it's below S$1k. White goods are nowadays quite competitive, so just go into any of those Best Denki/Courts and check them out

Oh yes, there are many sales in those megastores.. should be able to get a good bargain

              1st question: front load/top load.

              Front load:
              - option to use hot water wash (cleaner),
              - uses less water,
              - typically longer cycle (I remember my mum’s electrolux, high end model, took like 2 hours to complete the load; my own top load is about 45min),
              - typically more expensive.

              Top load:
              - hot water usually not available unless you pre installed hot water pipes,
              - uses loads more water,
              - shorter cycle in comparison,
              - can be much cheaper in comparison.

Bosch is a good brand. Personally, my family is used to Electrolux - this one can withstand ‘abuse’. Miele another good brand but that one pricey though I heard it can last a good long time.

Nowadays front load machines have option of quick wash. I would soak my clothings with detergent overnight, then put into the washing machine with quick wash 30 mins. I don’t add anymore detergent into the washing machine, simply add softlan or colour bleech.

Bosch and Brandt have toploader but the drum spin like the front loader. have hot water wash so while it uses lesser water, it takes more electricity. If u r a pro-green person, compare the power consumption.

Another thing is that these toploader usually have smaller footprint so good for people like myself who have a very small yard.

BOSCH has washer that saves water and energy. So you can try shopping at COURTS/HV for a comparision 🙂

there is \"tilted drum\" machine now that offers the water saving and heated water functions of front loading, yet convenient to use like a top loading.

Am I the only one here that buy home appliances from those proprietor owned electrical appliance shops?

For years we have been buying my home appliances, from fridge to LCD TV to videocam from a shop along geyland. So much so that the owner recognise us and give us very good price and usually same day, if not next day free delivery. Even the 2 guys that do delivery recognise our address

Thus, I ony shop at best denki & harvey norman to determine what to buy  and not shop to buy from them.
