Is Marymount convent itself still around? I remember the uniform of the school is green colour. Your girl is in the primary school so there is affiliation to the secondary school if it still exists.Thank you all for recommendation.. This is very helpful tips

Many appealed in after release of results/posting
Possible DSA/appeal:
- Netball
- Badminton
- Table Tennis
- Music (As long as the child has good music background or was from music CCA, subjected to audition)
- Dance (Same criteria as music) -
I am considering sending my girl to St Margaret or Crescent if her result permits. Can you elaborate more on the girls fist fight at St Margaret?
Thanks.DadOfGirl:

How about Crescent Girlsβ School? I thought they were quite ok (during my time).

Marymount primary is still around. Yes.. green color uniform...School achieved Award pertaining to 'Character building'. Secondary school no more ... it was there long time ago. So no afflialtion.. but they prepare well & student get to good secondary school.
Atleast 2 classes .. about 70 student out of 150 makes to 235-238 & above .. last year top girl got 275. There are atleast 30 girls makes to independent school with marks above 255-257
Rest to go St. Maragrett as it is nearby ... 244 & above go to Cedar as it is nearby
If are asking for P1 registration for your child , i would prefer it over CHIJ Primary in Toapayoh ( Both are in same area) -

St. Margareet / any other school with affliated school students will have some friction when non affliated student arrive in secondary. Your girl should be friendly & able to gel well with those posted from affliated school...... there is no fist fight , but i heard it is common that 'Girls' show each other 'Fist' in case of conflitI am considering sending my girl to St Margaret or Crescent if her result permits. Range of score from affliated school is 188 to 215(Mean) , this is another consideration. 215 average is bit low -

But crescent COP is ard 242-243, not falling within the range of the discussion here.
Yes, crescent is still as good as b4, maintaining its band 1 throughout with awards such as AA (gold) Academic Value-added, character development, Best practices, Physical and Aesthetics..........
Lower\tUpper\tMean\tMedian
243\t 277\t 249\t 248\t
Below is what I must posted in another thread abt crescent open hse.Dharma:

Just like u, Iβm also enjoying myself not thinking too much about the results. Frankly, up till now, my dd2 refuses to say anything about the papers and we stopped probing. The maths paper frightens me considering the fact that maths is not really her strong subject. I dare not even think of the secondary schools for now. Hoping for all-girls school, if possible.
there're still some other good all-girls school ard besides RGS and NYGH.
i personally like crescent girls' sch though it is not an IP but belongs to band 1. (probably becos i am ex-crescent
)
but frankly, been to their open hse yesterday, like the overall, their curriculum, the CCA offered and also the general behaviour/character of the students. (although some may feel that during open hse u only see the best, u still can feel the diff). -

Yes..we impart our family values with our best efforts but with teen raging hormones at play and seeing each other in school everyday, it will not be easy to \"manage\" their feelings in co-ed school environment. My own statistics compiled from colleagues and friends- 5 out of 7 was in BGR by Sec 3 (Co-Ed) and Zero out of 9 was in any BGR (same sex sch). Definitely pro-same sex sch here too!Personally, I'm in favour of same gender school. What with some teens having raging hormones and recent Sunday Times reports on teens sex are not helping.
Nowadays, even if students are from same gender schools, these teens can still mix around with friends from the opposite gender during tuition classes, CCAs and church activities. As someone mentioned earlier, it is important to instill good family values and provide positive parental support. Hopefully, our kids will listen to what we say, raging hormones notwithstanding. Hmmm...

Yes- if gal is non affiliated joining a affiliated school, it will take a while for the gal to blend in. A teacher friend from MGS told me that her observation is about 1 year after which they will be all right. The more sociable ones will have no problem.

From what I know of St.Margaret culture, the gals are very close knitted and united. School environment is balanced and the moms I \"interviewed\" told me their gals love the school. I don't hear of \"fist fights\" though. I think for every school, there is bound to have some \"negative\" stories. I even hear of not so good stories about some RGS gals - worse than showing fists!
