Just wondering, if other IP schools are just as stressed? Anyone has insights to share?

Heard that HCI has been asking the year 1 to write 500 word Chinese essays...

Nowadays the kids all discuss their projects via FB messaging or Yahoo/MSN messaging - mostly on FB though, I notice. They also ask for help with schoolwork via FB and discussion solutions to math problems and that of other subjects. I've also seen them discussing points for their project/essays with Seniors who are now so accessible via FB. Some of the seniors could even have graduated JC by now, and their viewpoints are quite thought-provoking.

Maybe daily conversations can rally around more serious topics that provoke thoughts to encourage this skill?

Critical thinking is somewhat an inherent quality and and it can be improved by strong observation, questioning the basics and \"questioning to the void\" techniques. There are some books for critical thinking for adults, but not for teenagers. I think we have to incult the skills of out-of-box thinking, irrational or wild questioning to the children. How to do this is another challenge.

Recently they've done a project in Thinking. Typical questions are like Why pizzas are round, Why manhole cover is round etc.

That's a good suggestion.
But when do last minute home works, teacher is not handy. My DS also use FB and SMS to discuss topics for homework and projects with his mates. For every project, they form a FB group, I don't measure yet, how effective it is. Seniors helping... May be possible, when they find senior friends.

They might find seniors - through their CCA and through their earlier orientation.

Everytime ask him how are things, always say OK. I hope he is not so confuse until dunno how to ask. I hope i don't :yikes: when he comes back with his assignment marks :nailbite: :xedfingers:

More than 9% improvement in the 4 H2 & 2 H1 passes. Of these, 99 students scored 6 distinctions or more.

Many H1 and H2 subjects achieved more than 50% distinctions.

Overall, 44% of students scored 3 or 4 H2 Distinctions
