i am stepping into hometutoring too and am also mentally preparing myself for your situation. had told my boy that he'll need to do constant and own revision and tutor is not to spoon feed him, but more for clarifications and better interactions (language tutor, so we treat it as 1.5hrs worth of verbal oral practice every session
)
looks like we parents still have to make up for such gaps, but i want to see it as a form of semi-independent learning on the kid's part.... :oops: trying to keep an optimistic view ah.

jedamum, yes, education is nowadays both ways (teacher/parent), we
can engage tutor to assist them but we are responsible for our own children eventually. :roll: -

Recently I was looking for a good tutor for my P3 DD. Then I come across one tutor that charge $60/hr , 1.5hr each lesson total $90. Lesson at tutor home. Its very EX$$. If group lesson $30/hr x 2 per lesson,is it Ex$$ too??
Please advice.

$60/hour is considered the higher end and is usually charged by a experienced MOE-trained. While it can be at the tutor's home, it should be individual tuition rate especially since its lower primary.$30/hour likewise for a lower primary student is high but not uncommon. It really depends on what is the qualification, experience and popularity of the tutor himself/herself.Recently I was looking for a good tutor for my P3 DD. Onsponge Maths as far as I can see (after checking the website, worksheets and solutions), is just a fancy name given to existing methods of solving mathematics. I learnt in more than 10years back when it was still in the experimental stage. Frankly, most tutors would be able to conduct such mathematics lessons and don't require \"specialist\" to do it. -

I've heard feedback from my students regarding expensive group tuition. They do not benefit much as the teacher simply assigns them homework and doesn't really help each student.
You need to check that the group size is small and that the teacher is going to give each student enough attention.
