RI did very well for A levels.

      —

New Records Set by the Class of 2011

The Class of 2011 set a brand new record for the 2011 ‘A’ Level Examinations. Half of the cohort scored a distinction in all 4 H2 subjects, the highest since the first cohort who offered the revised A-Level curriculum in 2007. 622 students (50%) scored 4 distinctions in the content-based subjects, and 853 students (68%) scored 3 distinctions in the content-based subjects.

Another record set was the number of students with a distinction in all subjects offered, with 155 students (12%) achieving this phenomenal feat. In 2010, this number was 11%.

For Chemistry and Economics, the Class of 2011 also topped all previous cohorts, with 77% scoring a distinction in Chemistry and 71% scoring a distinction in Economics.

In addition, 28% achieved perfect University Admission Points of 90, which was higher than year before. The University Admission Score is computed based on a maximum score of 90 points, and takes into account General Paper or Knowledge and Inquiry, Project Work, 3 H2 and 1 H1 content subjects.

To me, it is a sad day indeed. In the past, if the school know that you would not do well in something, they would advise you not to take it up. However, if you insist, they would still let you try. Though you will pull down the school’s overall performance, they don’t mind.

Today, they will block those that they think cannot produce results - whether academically or in CCA, all for the sake of good results - doing it the same way as the other JC. A sad day indeed for education. This improved results will be living proof for the head to further her course. Soon RI will be just like any other JC.

                        Quote from RI's website:

                        Performance of Individual H2 Subjects

The class of 2011 outperformed their peers with exceptional performances across the various subjects.

•8 in 10 students scored Distinctions for Physics, Chemistry, History, German, French, and Art

•7 in 10 students scored Distinctions for Biology, Mathematics, Economics,Geography and Literature in English

                        Performance of Students
The following is the breakdown of the number of distinctions obtained by our students:

                        • 9 Distinctions: 6 students
                        • 8 Distinctions: 89 students
                        • 7 Distinctions: 202 students
                        • 6 Distinctions: 274 students

Even before the release of the 'A' Level Examinations results, more than 40 students have received provisional scholarships from the various scholarship agencies, such as the PSC, GIC and EDB.

RI continues to be the gateway to Oxbridge and the Ivy League colleges - 30 students have already been offered places at Oxford University and 39 at Cambridge University. 51 students have already been offered places at top US universities, e.g. Yale, Pennsylvania, under the Early Decision scheme. This is the highest number of students being offered places at overseas universities prior to the release of the 'A' Level Examination results.
