So far we can only gather the mean rank pts of the following jcs:

      RI - 85.5
      HCI-84.8
      NJC-82
      ACJC-80.4

Using mean score is a more accurate measurement vs no of distinctions as the latter include mt, pw and gp. Moreover, using international yardstick, the general trend is based on 3 H2 content subjects and personal statement which i feel is more holistic than our local unis.

All in all, my opinion of individual jc’s performance in each acedemic yr should be judged on their mean score + 3 h2 contents grade ie % of students who obtained quality grades of AAA/AAB/ABB.
RV's 27% with 4H2 distinctions is almost same as HCI and VJC.

From the stats, seems like it. More comparable between RV and HCI the IPs which took in the top scorers from PSLE. VJC is not full IP for this batch yet and many of its students were from O level track.

Yes. I pull my hat off for VJ. Wonder how they do it with a 50% without top psle scorer.

COP for this batch RV was 253. HCI 257 or 258 or 259 (for NYGH which join HCI for A level, COP was much higher)
VJC was No 1 in the JC ranking for 1995 and 2001. It was second in many years. Compare with those years, VJC has dropped further behind RJC and HCJC. This is due to the Integrated Programme at RJC and HCJC, and it does not help when the top VS students opt to go to RJC in recent years. With the IP in VS and Cedar now, hope VJC can compete with RJC and HCJC again.
Apart from these, RJC, HCJC and VJC have very long traditions and excelled in many CCAs besides academically.

There is only this statistic from VJC:
\"55 Victorians achieved perfect *University Admission Points of 90. 167 Victorians scored at least 88.75 points. 273 Victorians attained at least 87.5 points.\"

Do you have the MOE links for the ranking?

What about the rest of the VJC cohort which forms the greater majority ?

I do not have the links. Think they were mentioned in the VJC college magazine. I found this. Look under 1995 and 2001.

I don't think PSLE COP is the only indicator for A Level results. VS has students as high as 272 if I can recall. In those days, VJC enjoy having good students from the East like Dunman High, Anglican High, Tanjong Katong Girls', Tanjong Katong Sec, St Patrick's, Katong Convent, as well as attracting top students from other SAP schools, RI and RGS.

Unfortunately, I have no idea about that.

In those days, to be fair, NJC and TJC did very well too.

However, it seems that currently, RI and HCI are both in a league of their own whereas the other first tier JCs seemed to have slowly fall behind

I have the MOE links for JCs performance indicators in 1995 and 2001. VJC was indeed ranked first in 2001.

I understand in JCs, there are lecture and tutorial classes. Lecture are usually conducted in a bigger group whereas tutorial classes are smaller, say < 30 class size.

Do RI, HCI, RVHS have the same practice or differently?

                        Thanks.
