      mamaof1:
However for ACS Pri ,balloting is required even for 2B. Assuming if this 2B balloting fails, would phase 2C (ACS Pri )still be available ?

Based on past years' statistics, you should be safe for both schools in P2B.
      mamaof1:
Or should I try for phase 2C for ACS Junior ?
Again, based on past years' statistics, ACJS seemed safer in P2C.
      mamaof1:
If both fail, what shd my next step be ?
You will only be able to register with a school that still has vacancy in P2CS.

Please refer to the balloting statistics for more information:

        2011 balloting results

        phase 2B:-
        =========
        ACS Barker (Barker road)
        http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=487&start=280

        ACS Junior (Winstedt road)
        http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=399&start=310

        phase 2C :-
        ==========
        ACS Barker - 30 for 24 slots.
        ACS Junior - 79 for 63 slots.

        ACS Barker

        ACS Junior
        http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=399&start=360

both ACS schools are sizzling hot cakes!
by end 2C, all seats snapped up. No chance at 2C Supplementary.

by end 2C if you fail to enter into either ACS school, last choice:-
can only go for schools under 2C Supp, that still has vacancies.
Foreigners will start to pour in at phase 3.

correct me if i am wrong, but i think for the past 2 to 3 yeras, for phase 2b at acsp, the no. of applicants (within 1km) = the no. of vacancies. just nice (no balloting needed).

          amazing isnt it šŸ˜‰

parents who wish to know which schools lie within 1 km, within 2 km or > 2km from your house, may type in your address with Singapore postal code, hit \"magnifying glass\" query button. The answer comes out on the spot:-

schools appearing within BLUE zone Circle: < 1 km

schools appearing within RED zone Circle: 1 to 2 km

schools appearing outside RED zone Circle: > 2 km

Sorry, pls excuse me, Im still kinda confused here after looking at the stats.

For ACS Barker, Im within 1km as well as in grassroots.
For ACS Junior, I am only within 1 km

so I should definitely try for ACS Barker first rite ?

Yes try barker under 2b first.

If unsuccessful, monitor the situation between the two schools and decide which one has higher chance of getting in.

From past records, it is easier to get a place in junior 2c within 1 km.

Just curios, I am unfamiliar with grassroots thingy but your advantage in 2 b doesnt allow you to apply at junior in phase 2b?

Hi LOLMum, thks! Unfortunately I didnt do my homework enough .I thought the moulmein/watten NC applies for both barker and junior but I just found out junior actually falls under tanjong pagar nc.

Having said that,I m also keeping my fingers crossed that I will get confirmed as a committee member by May. I am still an observer status. If I dont get confirmed, then it will be P2C for both schools ,then ACS Junior will stand better chance ?

if going by past history, yes, junior stands a better chance at 2c for within 1km.

nothing guarantee now.............all depends on the take up at phase 1 and 2a.

                    best wishes. šŸ˜‚

                      Ran1977:
Hi, I want to ask your advice.

My child will be going to P1 in 2014. Currently his kindy just offers Chinese as a 2nd language which he is taking.
Unfortunately being Sindhi (Indian, but not Tamil speaking), I do not know much about Chinese; just little dily conversations with my Chinese friends.
On the other hand, I am okay in Malay (having taken Malay in PSLE and O Level).
Thus, I have 2 challenges awaiting me:-

                      1) Do I want him to take Chinese in Primary School (where my help is limited) or Malay (that I can help him after work as I am a FTWM).
                      2) If I do want him to take Malay in Primary School, I would need to start now with him. Would anyone have the preschool Malay syallabus that one needs to know before going to P1?

                      Thanks:)
                      Hi Ran1977,
I am in the same boat as you same background, only that my choice is now narrowed down to Hindi vs Malay. My sole objective is to score in the exams. I know Hindi and my Husband knows malay! So I am sitting on th e fence.
Hearing the rumours of the tough level of Hindi is confusing me.
I did not see any replies to your post. Wondering if we should share notes on our own. Let me know how you want to take this conversation forward.
                      Hope to hear from you.
