Could it be the case of primary school children who hv 8-10 tuitions 😉 n then in secondary school with more subjects need even more tuition to survive ? :imdrowning: The needs fr tons of tuition for this child likely to continue on until univ :moneyflies:

8-10 tuitions in primary school?!? :yikes: Which means 2 or more tuitions per subject? Whatever for??? One per subject is already more than enough. Imagine if the kid were to have tuition for all subjects in secondary school. 8-16 tuitions then???

Heard of mummies talking. One telling another that although kid in P4 scoring 90+ marks, could fail in P5.

        :yikes:
This mummy who said that is out to sabo people. :stompfeet:

I don’t know how the tr will cover paper 1 and 2 within a specific session for languages. But I know there are centres that focus on just creative writing. So for a primary school kid to have so many tuition or academic enrichments it’s possible.

As for maths, there are so many different types in this forum. So not surprising for a kid to have more than 1 too.

Science so far I know P1 and P2 are hands-on but P3 onwards I have seen that some centres advert that they have labs so I guess some don’t ?

All these feed into our fears. It’s easy to get suck in.

Bottomline is if a parent wants, there are more than enough choices out there to add up the numbers.

I pray that we will not end up sending kids to cram schools like those in

Korea where the poor kids had to attend after school and lessons last
              till midnight :yikes: :yikes:
I asked the tour guide there and he told me for Korean school
kids, it is usual for them to sleep after midnight (even for junior school ones)everyday because after cram school, they still have to complete their school homework after reaching home...... so sad..

Oh ya. Now I remember there’s one for science that focus on how to answer questions so as not to lose marks in PSLE. Not sure if that’s a yr session or shorter term. So I guess the number can increase and decrease over time depending on which level the kid is in.

                  :yikes:
from what i know, the teachers would set the papers very hard and very strict in marking. this is to gauge the standard of the pupils then it is pushing and grilling by the teachers all the way to psle.

friend (a teacher in a neighbourhood school) said that they are now able to tell if the pupils are attending certain branded enrichment classes (without asking the pupils). the pupils tend to use the same phrases and similar style of writing compositions and the teachers would not give top scores for these compositions.

that's just from my friend. might not be the same for others.

The skill sets requirement from p5 is a notch or two higher than p4 across all subjects. Besides, during p4 yr, there is the subject base banding so all schools have directive from exam board to test within the level that most if not all p4 can manage, needless to say most kids will excel especially at the end of yr exam. Reality strike at p5 ... Schools test w 'standard' n marking another killer, one word different from answer key n it's zero , u get the standard reply \"we have to be stricter than PSLE marking\" ....

So now we also. bo pian, much that we wish to save our dd tuition fee n give her as part of her inheritance, we now pay it to a nice x school teacher :moneyflies: :moneyflies: :moneyflies: 🤷 🤷

I told my DH that he doesn't need to moonlight as taxi driver next time already because he can go finish up other children's homework after work and earn at least $200 per hour.
