I heard good comments about onsponge from friends but seems like you need to be quite good already. Not sure whether to onsponge is better or concept math. Don’t really know the difference, I thought onsponge seems to have rather developed techniques. Anyone attends their classes? Are they rushed in teaching in the classes?

        24hr-mum:

p4 now. went last dec for wkshop. i think for smart kids ok but mine is average only

Hi 24hr-mum, I also sent my P5 for their holiday camp last year when she was P4. Thought it was too compressed and rushed that didn't allow them to digest the information. Don't think the camp was a good idea as some of these concepts need time to appreciate and you get better through practise. So I didn't consider that for my ds.

Not sure if their weekly classes are better.

I also sent my dd for the camp last year but found not really effective. Maths is a subject that needs constant practice. If the parents are good tutor for their kids they can actually buy the books and teach them. I bought the books but no time to go thru with dd. Perhaps we will be more disciplined if we pay and attend the lessons.

my impression frm reading the concept math thread is CM is better for weaker kids and easier to understand than onsponge.

Yup, this is my understanding too. Onsponge helps better kids and CM helps weaker kids.

Thanks everyone for your feedback & comments!!!

What if my DS is neither a 'better' kid nor a 'weaker' kid, but just an 'average' kid, which centre (onSponge or Concept Math) is more suitable for him :scratchhead: ? Sigh!!! :gloomy:

Why don't u buy the onSponge book for him to try? If he can do quite a number of questions, then enroll him in onSponge.

Mrs Lee Math Tuition is the best! She has many methods of solving Math, just like what On-Sponge book teaches. Effective teacher who managed to swing my nephew from Red Swastika from 34 to an ‘A’ in PSLE last year. We thought our nephew was gone case. Now my own kids are under her and they find her v effective as she explains to their level and she makes math easy for them. Looking to put my other child under her but no slots so she has to be on waiting list.
