There were a lot of elderly neighbors milling around in the neighborhood where I grow up. Everyone knows everyone. My older cousins will bring the younger cousins for fun and games and practise buying things from the mama shop. My children will never get to enjoy what I experienced. My current neighborhood is quiet and filled with foreign workers milling around in the afternoon and evenings.

            Daddy 😧
Came back from market this morn and there was this little girl in the same lift.

I was wondering how old she was (shld be less than P5)?
Her parents so brave to let her buy breakfast on her own?
But I decided not to talk to her in case I scared her....

The girl never run out of the lift when stranger come in to share the lift?

I tot for older kids the abductor drug them … Thats y the Disneyland case they found the kid unconscious lying on the bench when the park is lock down.

Seriously how to prevent if the abductor can just use a drug handkerchief n cover over the child when he/ she is alone.

Exactly lor... I was thinking when we should let go of our kids so they would learn to be more independent and go out on their own... But safety comes to mind.

Yup, I have always try to let my child be more independent. Often, I would leave him to jaga the table while I go and queue for food. But he's always within sight, cos I always choose seats right in front of the stall, but a few meters away. I would tell him where I am going and that he cannot run away. he can see me there in the queue and I think it gives him assurance that I am not very far away. Now with amk hub episode, I won't leave him alone in the short run. I can lose my life but I cannot lose my child.

Ever since the 2 boys were kidnapped more than 20 years ago, I have become paranoid, ESP with more foreigners now. Parents, pls do not leave your kids alone.

It's indeed very scary that this is happening. Thank goodness the mother was alert.
I always try to encourage my son to be more independent by allowing him to do things on his own such as buying things, going to classes etc. But such people make me worried. Why do we have to be living in such fearful environment? Isn't it our rights to live in a safe environment? Singapore is no longer a safe place to live in? Hope the law enforcers do something about it.

Low crime rates does not mean no crime

                        pinky:
I read a very touching report on a PRC mother whose son was stolen while playing outside the house. He was only a toddler then and despite many pleas to the police for action, they did not bother because the traffickers actually bribed the police. So she left her husband behind, moved from village to village wearing a signboard of her son's photo and

earned a living by singing to the villagers. She said she would not give up
looking for her son even if it takes forever. People told her that the photo
may no longer be relevant bec her son's features may change with age but she believed that she can recognised him because they are 'bonded
by heart and blood'. Thus she continue her journey of love and hope and she vowed not to return until her son is reunited with her again.

 a mother's love knows no bounds 😢
Ya parents will always do anything for their kids, no doubts...
