Need help to solve this qns :

Qns : Ming Hao had twice as many stamps as Yiling. After Ming Hao sold 80 of his stamps, Yiling had 3 times as many stamps as him. How many stamps did Ming Hao have at first?

These are still relevant points/issues pertaining to academic preparation and support for P3 Math. I was going to post the remedies.. some strategies.. that we can all share to minimize the issues our children or rather... WE... are facing now. Still not to late to rectify n trouble shoot for P3 SA1. Tio bo? It's considered support right? :please:

As for preparation part, we are preparing other parents in lower primary to prepare for the big P3 shock... err... transition maybe a better word.

Can don't move to personal thread, cos later lagi susah to make any relevance whatsoever. At least here we are still very much in discussion on what challenges our children face in Math. P3 Math. Pwetty pweeeaaase? :please:

Hmm, I do not quite understand your question. Yiling was cut into 3 small units as after Ming Hao sold 80 of his stamps, Yiling had 3 times as many stamps as him. There are no changes to Yiling's number of stamps. So, we had to cut Yiling 's big unit into 3 smaller units.

hi parents, need to know how teachers teach students to answer the following question without using algebra:


Mrs Ho bakes some cakes for her class. If she gives 2 cakes to each pupil, she will have 17 extra. if she gives 5 cakes to each pupil, she is short of 4. How many cakes did she bake?

Can you explain in the following way:
If each kid rec 2 cakes, there are 17 extras;
If each kid rec 5 cakes, there is a short of 4
i.e. when each kid rec 3 more cakes each, add’l cakes req is 17 + 4 = 21
therefore, no. of kids = 21/3 = 7
She must have baked (7 x 2) + 17 = 31
Further checking can be done as (7 x 5) - 4 = 31
