if hit in-land, where can we run to ?

Our highest hill is Bukit Timah hill ... not sure if is high enough to overcome big strong, high tsunami waves. maybe SG should start conduct civil defence, help everyone practise running to this hill seek refuge for days ? The higher ground we run to, the safer we are.

or time for SG to explore the idea of building a big Noel ark, big enough to let people hide inside, seek refuge for a period of time from strong tsunami waves hitting entire island, if really hit in-land one day?

High time to plan and execute trial run emergency crisis solution, nation wide.

Maybe the show \"Noose\" is correct - govt built Marina Bay Sands in case tsunami strikes, the top (which shapes like a ship) can \"transport\" us... However, i think it is \"Member Only\"! :rotflmao:
only way of escape is to remain on high ground, remain in helicopters / hot air balloon in the air, or hide inside a big stable ship that'll not be tossed around by the high forceful tusnami waves. Depends on what ship material is made of.

it didn't happen to SG yet doesn't mean ... it will never happen to SG one day.

My hair stood on ends when I watched video clip of Japan's tsunami. The waves just gushed in. Anything and everything was swept away like a toy boat. Can you imagine those luxury houses facing the sea in Sentosa ?

don't think there is enough time for us to travel all the way there if ever tsunami strikes. Best way is to run up to the highest floor in our block and pray for safety [/quote]everybody panic run quickly to the roof top (highest floor), wait for helicopter / hovercraft rescue team deliver us from calamity, as powerful water force gush in rapidly filling up lower storeys of office building, floor by floor.

problem is helicopter limited seats - maximum take in only around 6 people, including pilot. Time for civil defence police rescue force plan & execute how to bring in MUCH BIGGER transport vehicles, able to load in thousands of distressed office workers trapped in misery during panic emergency. eg: aeroplane

Security guards must ensure that the door leading to the roof top is NOT locked. Otherwise, office workers are trapped inside. So far, there isn't any civil defence practice carried out on office buildings before, handling major disaster. At the very most, we only had small \"fire drill\" rehearsal. In this aspect, we are ill prepared ! Must practise able to land an aeroplane on the roof top.

                casino will be gone !

the huge amount of $ poured in for investment to build this grand casino - gone with the tsunami !

Much lower risk than being involved in a traffic accident.

The possibility of a tsunami reaching Singapore is very very small.

It would require a very massive earthquake probably way above 9 or even 10 on the ritcher scale, to hit at the right place and at the right angle, to generate a super big and powerful tsunami, that is strong enough to move over Sumantra and possibly southern Johor, or to move down Straits of Malaca after being deflected and bounced off a few times, then the waves can reach us. By then, if it is still strong enough to cause damages to Singapore, I can’t image the damages it would have caused to Sumantra.

more likely we would have suffer damages from the massive earthquake than from the tsunami.

Wondering: Should a Tsunami like this hit Singapore, which part of the island will be hit?

None. Singapore is well protected by indo and m'sia.. all covered..

if any were to sneak thru the east side, the power of the waves will be greatly reduced.
