BTW, those who rush their kids to the A&E for high fever and wait for 4 hrs to get a fever suppository <paracetamol stuffed into the anus> and be charged sixty dollars for it, pls note that you can buy this suppository \"Remedol\" from any pharmacy for a few dollars and do it yourself at home. It is placed on the shelves together with panadol tablets.
Whenever I take my child to see PD, I will try to get some primatol (for fever < 39) and voltaren (for fever > 39) suppository from the PD for emergency usage.
You will never know when you need it and they come in handy a few times for us. Especially when the child is having fever over the weekend and got to wait till Monday then can see PD -

You get some rest and take care of yourself too. The past few days must have been tough on you. -
For me, whenever the old one expire, I will get 2-3 from my GP. I never get to use it (thankfully), but was glad I had it and gave it to my neighbor when her son has high fever. He had fever for few days and yet his doc said it is normal every time she brought him to the clinic !! Luckily my worried neighbor came to talk to me. I told her it is not normal and to see my doctor. I gave her suppository and that did bring down the fever for that night. Taking my advise, my neighbor brought her son to KK that night after suppository effect wore off and fever returned. He was immediately admitted and hospitalized for about 2 wks. Diagnosed with pneumonia. Sometimes, must have 2nd opinion.

Yes, agreed! No harm seeking a second opinion if the child is still not getting better after 2-3 days. -
Pls note that medicines like Voltaren and Nurofen are NSAIDS and some pple can be allergic to them. Always use paracetamol (panadol, calpol, dhamol) first.

When I first read this thread some time ago, I felt 9 days is unusual and I will go for second opinion rather just self medicate. But I understand every parent feels differently. However Iโve just been told of a child who died suddenly after a week of fever. Doctor is still trying to ascertain the actual cause. Apparently there was nothing seemingly unusual about the fever, just that it wonโt go away. If you feel uneasy, just go for a second opinion with a good pd, not just a convenient pd.
I recently brought my son to a nearby pd for rashes but felt her diagnosis and recommended management plan was wrong and took him for a second opinion. The second pd referred us to yet another pd with specialisations who managed it well.
