I can see your dilemma even more clearly now that you’ve written that your dd has strong leadership positions too. I suppose if she stays on in her current school she’ll have the opportunity to help mould and shape the new JC especially given her leadership positions. But so little is known of this new JC. As it is the schools haven’t even revealed where the new JC will be sited, just a vague indication of where it might be.

One thing to consider is when she goes on to uni, will her choice of JC affect her application, especially to overseas unis? Given that she’ll probably do as well academically at her A levels regardless of whether she’s at RI, HCI or XXJC, will having an established JC name help more?

You have raised another factor to consider...we never think so far yet....the uni that she wants to study in. Still in dilemma...

What if what she has to give up is more than the top class, she is currently a President of a CCA club and one of the leaders of the prefectorial board....if she moves on to affiliated sec school, her leadership position is likely to be at the same or higher level.

from the above, do you think that the affiliated schs will give more weightage to students from own affiliated pri when selecting persons to fill in key leadership roles? or is that the cca club she intends to join in sec sch is a continuation from her affiliated pri sch wing? i thought most sec sch start from ground zero in terms of selection of leadership post selection and everyone start almost from the same starting point where teachers and peers will select potential student leaders based on their performance at that point in time.

think you should worry less. bring her around to see look and she'll probably make her choice based on her own sets of pros and cons.

I brought my P4 DS to RI open house today. Very impressed by the campus, culture and the \"gentlemen\" we met. Fantastic school. Awesome experience.:)

Hopefully, will motivate him to study hard and aim for this premier institution.:)

Does any parents practise bringing your P5 to open house so that they get a feel of what school they should aim for??? Does that sound very ks???

I brought my son to attend a sec open house in the west. The COP to get in is 245. PSLE is getting tougher year after year. So even though son likes environment, but so what…it’s like ‘wow the school environment is nice and wow, the CCAs are interesting’. What’s the point of all the ‘wow’? Why not work hard and get the results first? With the results, he can decide which school…no point being envious of those students in that school. They worked very hard in P6 too.

Hi! I'm a newbie here, after going through some of the topic randomly now than i realised that PSLE - Sec 1 process is so complicated.


I'm aiming Cedar Girls for my DD but Cedar only taking in DSA? Anyone got any idea what is the minimum aggregate to get into Cedar?

Her teacher hope that she can get in to RGS which i don't think she can make it after seeing her mid-year result, she failed her maths just by a 4 marks.. :scared:

I don't even dare to think of aggregate score she be getting. My maths also cannot make it so i don't really know how to calculate the score base on her mid-year result..

Cedar takes in students via DSA as well as PSLE results. Last year's COP for O levels was 249 and for IP was 258.
