I'm using a app I found on the istore. Simple but getting the idea of reading and phonics to my little one so quick.

Have a look see, its just so scary how fast kids pick up technology.

        This app is working.

Phtthp, why dun you do it on your own rather than let the center does it? The progress will be slower if let center does it.

Hihi, I’m new to this forum. Also searching for a recommended & affordable phonics class for my 3.5yr old boy. I’ve just withdraw him from his Zoophonics cos teacher was saying he can’t sit still as he is extremely active & have short concentration.

He is currently in 2 hr playgroup. Can any mummy advice whether I should continue him in other school in order to stimulate him or monitor him as I’m having second thought that since he can’t concentrate am I wasting $ to enrol him. Kindly advice.

                  Hi Nemofc and Twinkle,

My 3.5 year old girl is currently attending Foundation class at LCentral Thomson. She enjoys the class which is about 90 mins each week. LCentral has a good program to teach children how to read. At Foundation, they teaches the 1st and last sounds to the students with many activities to keep these young children interested.

She has progress well so far and might get promoted to the next level, Launchpad, end of the year.

Initially, she cries each time she steps into the class. Quite worried she cannot get use to the lessons. But after a few lessons and through the patience of her teacher, she is starting to enjoy her class and look forward to going back each time. So worth bringing your child down for free assessment and decide from there.

I’ve enquire with Mind Stretcher yesterday and was told that my 3.5 old is not ready to enrol on the foundation class as he doesn’t know how to write yet. At this class, all kids should at least write simple alphabet & numeric. They suggest to equip him with writing skills before he join if not he will feel left out and teacher have no time to guild him individually.

Any idea is it true that all if not most foundation class need this criteria before he can enrol? Pls advice.

                      Hi twinkle2009
Although most of the phonics/english class for 3-4 yrs old will require them to write, there are still centres who are not as strict as MS - eg I Can Read, Kumon, Morris Allen, Lcentral (My fren's son just enrolled, he couldnt write).

I just enrolled my child of 3.5 years old in Kent Ridge Phonics class in changi city point. I think it’s very helpful for her and she like it alot. She said it’s very fun over there. The class is quite small so I guess she would be given the attention needed.

Maybe you would like to give it a try, my child also cant write yet.
