Congratulations to River Valley High for coming in 3rd in the A Division Girls Floorball tournament. All the more credible considering that the girls did not participate in the inter-school tournament when in secondary level. Floorball has been the most exciting and interesting sport in schools sports in recent years.

River Valley High has also obtained two National 3rd and one National 4th in the annual inter-school badminton competition.

RV has obtained a record number of 25 short listed inventions and a whopping total of 10 awards altogether. This is never seen in history.

陈嘉庚青少年发明奖　让眼药水百“滴”百中

　　眼睛敏感的余家小姐妹花恩美与恩琦，滴眼药水常“滴不准”，非常懊恼。她们在眼药水瓶上加上两个小环，滴药水时就能百“滴”百中。

　　伊莱雅园小学学生余恩美（12岁）与恩琦（10岁）的小发明为自己解决了问题，也凭此获得陈嘉庚青少年发明奖小学组别的银奖。她们是这个组别表现最佳的一组。

　　这对小发明家去年也曾参赛，虽然没有获奖，却未浇熄她们发明新事物的兴趣。她们利用地心引力与视差（parallax）的物理原理，采用简单的道具改良眼药水瓶。将小环对齐就能确保瓶口对准眼睛。

　　余恩美受访时说，她们起初使用一般的线固定两个环的位置，后来发现不牢固，改以尼龙线取代。

　　能获评审团的青睐，姐妹俩感到鼓舞。妹妹恩琦说：“我喜欢科学，发明东西很好玩。我会更努力，多动脑筋。”

　　主办单位今年共颁发64个奖项，包括嘉许奖与勉励奖。各组别的金奖皆从缺。

　　立化中学是这届比赛的大赢家，25个入选作品，有10个获奖。学生万星辰与荚德乾发明的“半开”雨伞，为他们赢得学生组银奖。

万星辰（16岁）受访说：“下车时，由于空间狭窄，开伞时不可避免被雨水溅湿。我们在原有的雨伞加上另一个开关装置，可在狭窄的空间‘半开’雨伞，更有效地挡雨。雨伞也能像普通雨伞一样敞开，一物两用。”

　　大专学府方面，银奖分别由淡马锡理工学院与南洋理工学院代表获得。刚毕业自南洋理工学院的许淑茸（20岁）为厕所门设计一个特制平台，拉出后可放置个人物品。由于开门时需移动平台，可确保公众取走财物，不会遗漏在厕所。

　　陈嘉庚青少年发明奖自1986年成立，旨在鼓励年轻人发挥创意。比赛分为小学组、学生组（19岁以下）、大专学府、公开组和国防科技组。

　　比赛由陈嘉庚基金、新加坡科技研究局（A*STAR）和新加坡国防科技局（DSTA）与国防科技研究院主办。国防部兼教育部政务部长黄循财在昨天的颁奖仪式担任嘉宾。得奖作品将在科学馆展出，直到6月1日。

does anyone know when the year 1 students will receive the progress report ?

Have you tried this? Parents can track your child's academic and discipline records in this site. Key in your nric no in User name and password.

So far i only see term 1 result there.

Why RVH not giving out full report book on student's performance, progress? The marks only do not tell much information on our young ones! disappointed to the school system....

1. in exam results report, what does "percentile" stand for? if it is 80, does it mean the student ranking as top 20th percentile?
2. as to school policy, the student, whose gpa for first 3 terms is above 3.80, will be offered a "trip". Does it mean the student would miss the 4th term’s curriculum?

Or possibly, RV doesn't teach new stuff in term 4?

The student will go on the trip during exam period, however they still need to attend lessons as usual in term 4.
How is it possible that the school doesn't teach any thing new in the whole term? :?
