        ApronMama:
May I know what is the P4, P5 and P6 GEP English standard equivalent to compare with mainstream. Earlier on someone was telling me P4 is about mainstream P6 standard for English. Experience GEP parents, appreciate your comment.

I can't comment on how it compares directly with the primary school mainstream as I'm not familiar with the mainstream syllabus. However I do know that some of what is covered in Language Arts in National Junior College Year One (ie Sec One), the GEP students already covered in P5.

The way English is taught in GEP is very lively and they do quite a bit of literature as well, using lit techniques to criticise comprehension passages, book reviews etc. The children grow to love English because they learn to appreciate the nuances of the language.

          Hi KingRascal,

I like your callsign! Is that your's or your kid's? 😉
It is natural to do your best for your kid(s), though in this case IMHO trying to prepare your kid for GEP may do him more harm than good. The idea of GEP is to sieve out the \"gifted\" children from the crop and nurture them. One school of thought is that \"giftedness\" is innate and cannot be cultivated. If it can be cultivated, the GEP classes would probably be crowded out by newly minted little Einsteins whose parents can afford it, for LOL! Actually that is quite a scary thought, isn't it?
Some parents in this forum concur with MOE's advice that you should not prepare your kid(s) for GEP selection. I also don't think schools would openly go against MOE's advice.
P1 - P3 is a breeze for a child of your ds calibre. Do you seriously think any school would make a difference at this level? If you are only looking at a one dimensional education ie academic excellence only for your kid(s) - well IMHO, good luck to you.
If he is happy where he is, why change? There is time to change when the time comes.
Fish hobbyists know that when you transfer fishes between tanks/habitats, the fish is subjected to unnecessary stress. Those fishes that cannot destress, adapt quickly and remains unhappy in their new environment dies prematurely. Food for thought.

              Syshi,

Wow! So yours was the only kid from Anderson Pri that got into GEP this year? You must be real proud. Congrats!

Thanks turquoise. How about comparing the exam(CA, SA,..) paper 2 portion with PSLE English? Did your dd still do assessment books? If so, any good reccommendation thru out P4 to P6?

                  syshi:
Was asking CH, they said cannot reveal... anyway, any parents from those schools can share with us here?

                  KSP:

How come no update from NYPS, MGS, CH, HPPS, SNPS?

Haha....what a secretive school! You remember in the Q & A during CH's open house, the HOD when queried, replied that they don't reveal the numbers. Whereas, on 11th Nov at Poly, I understand most schools indicate the numbers when asked, for LOL!
What's there to hide? Parents want to know so as to make an informed choice since we know that children selected for GEP has priority if they chose to stay on in a GEP school. The more secretive they are, the more sinister the selection appears. To think that it is one of my DS's choices. 😢
