        turquoise:

I can't comment on how it compares directly with the primary school mainstream as I'm not familiar with the mainstream syllabus. However I do know that some of what is covered in Language Arts in National Junior College Year One (ie Sec One), the GEP students already covered in P5.

The way English is taught in GEP is very lively and they do quite a bit of literature as well, using lit techniques to criticise comprehension passages, book reviews etc. The children grow to love English because they learn to appreciate the nuances of the language.

Thanks turquoise. How about comparing the exam(CA, SA,..) paper 2 portion with PSLE English? Did your dd still do assessment books? If so, any good reccommendation thru out P4 to P6?

No, she didn't do any mainstream exam papers or assessment books in P4 and P5. She only did mainstream papers in P6 in preparation for PSLE.

            Syshi,

Wow! So yours was the only kid from Anderson Pri that got into GEP this year? You must be real proud. Congrats!
Thanks Way2GO... a bit sad cause in the school the whole GEP affair like hush hush... nobody knows what's the result... some teachers quite surprised to hear that my son got the GEP as nobody mentioned to them...

Haha....what a secretive school! You remember in the Q & A during CH's open house, the HOD when queried, replied that they don't reveal the numbers. Whereas, on 11th Nov at Poly, I understand most schools indicate the numbers when asked, for LOL!

What's there to hide? Parents want to know so as to make an informed choice since we know that children selected for GEP has priority if they chose to stay on in a GEP school. The more secretive they are, the more sinister the selection appears. To think that it is one of my DS's choices. 😢
Yah... were you there on 10th Nov? So, your DS ended up not choosing CH?
Didn't ask the teachers in the Poly on 11th Nov though on the no. of children selected to GEP from CH...

My DS very firm want to go CH... especially when talked to Rosyth HOD GEP (on 11th Nov) which 'proudly' said \"We are very popular school you know\" when asked about the chances of my DD which currently P1 whether able to transfer to Rosyth...
we know that those GEP school should be consider as 'Popular' without you say it yourself...

DS2 was called into the principal's office on day of announcement. He said there were 5B + 1G from MBS this year.

                    Hi way2go,
last yr there were 5b & 2g from mbs but 1b & 1g opt not to go gep. 😄 but they were not told to go to the principal office. A teacher in charge came by and distributed the yellow envelope to them outside their classrm

Just curious.... what is MBS ?
