[Bukit Timah] Primary Schools

nite:
Hi,Hi,
On a separate note, can parents here comment on the experience they had with RGPS, HPPS, Fairfield, MGS and SCGS? In terms of curriculum, teaching methods etc. I don't want my kids to end up in a popular school just becoz' it's popular.
I had a difficult time trying to get the PSLE and P1 registration statistics for the above schools for the past few years? Can someone direct me to where I can get it?
Thanks.
Students in RGPS, MGS, etc may be able to attend the high-end tuitions, enrichments, etc vs Fairfield. Does that mean that kids in the first 2 schools will perform better vs Fairfield becos of these external factors? Unsure if you want to factor this in your comparison. -

You can go to the Balloting History page to study the trends. There are annual variations and exceptions. With the new rules this year, we never know what might happen. Mummy of 3 already said you have no chance for any of them if you don't move house, based on their current balloting history.Hi Cherrygal,
Why do say HPPS is slight chance and Fairfield is not so good chance. Does that mean the competition is fiercer in Fairfield than HPPS for Ph2C balloting?
Thanks
Best option now is to shortlist 1 or 2 schools, then do the necessary - move house. If you don't move or rent, then there is no need to think so much about all these hard to get schools.
Just be mindful that even if you move within 1km, there's still a high possibility that you may not get into that school. -

ai)
phase 2B 2011: staying more than 2 km.
# of applications Received: 11.
but # of successful applicants: 0 (> 2km not given chance to ballot).
all those 28 who got in - stayed less than 1 km.
aii)
phase 2B 2010: staying more than 2 km.
out of 22 balloted, 7 got in. (better than 2011 batch)
means ratio is 1:3
ie. out of every 3 kids, only 1 lucky child able to get into NYPS
aiii) under Phase 2C
If you are staying out of 1km from school, there will not be any chance at all, as balloting for 2C is all those within one km only.
check school website :-
- click under dropbox <Admission>, for P1 enrolment data and balloting statistics.

b) Raffles Girls
school cut down on the number of classes for kids born 2007 onwards.
PR no chance.
SC > 2km given prority to enter before the 1st PR.
under Phase 2C -
with 1 class intake cut down, even SC very difficult to get in, esp. those > 2 km.

Do u intend to shift / rent within 1 km of NYPS?We are considering moving to within 1km of NYPS now to get my daughter into the school. Even then, we can only qualify for phase 2C. Would it be worthwhile since with the new priority given to Singaporeans, we might stand a higher chance this year?
The thing is, by doing this, we will give up our chance for registering her in Phase 2B for CHIJ QLOP (we live within 1km). I think we are certain to get her into CHIJ OLQP but I prefer NYPS. We have a younger daughter and they are both Singaporeans.
Even if Yes, you will still be subjected to balloting in phase 2C.
Your place is not guaranteed. Are you willing to take this high risk?
If you are staying out of 1km, then u can forget about NYPS and just retain your place at CHIJ OLQP in phase 2B.
if you get in, Congrats!
if fail in balloting for NYPS, head for 2C Supp school(s) next.
can't go back CHIJ OLQP anymore.

Thank you phtthp! It looks like we will stay put and apply to CHIJ OQLP!

Hi,
Are there parents here who have been successful in getting into the PV group at MGS ? Can you share your experience and what the school is looking for in their PVs?
Thanks
