Hi this is a question from TN SA1 2011 paper, can someone help?

Using 3/5 of her money, Chloe could buy 11 notebooks. If she was given an extra $2, she could use it together with the remaining amount of money to buy another 8 such notebooks. How much money did Chloe have?

          Thank you in advance.

Need help on this question. 60% of the people in the bazzar are female. After 340 more people visited the bazzar, the female increased by15% while the number of male increased by 20%. How many people are there in the bazzar now?

                Hi,

                HTH.

                At first,
                Male:Female ----- 40:60 (total 100%)

                Now,
                Male:Female ----- (40x1.2) : (60x1.15)
                Male:Female ----- 48:69 (total (117%)

                17% ----- 340
                1% ----- 20

                117% ----- 117 x 20 = 2340 people

There are 2340 people in the bazzar now

                  Hi,

                  HTH...

                  3 units ----- 11 notebooks

                  2 units + $2 ----- 8 notebooks <--- divide by 2
                  1 unit + $1 ----- 4 notebooks <--- multiply by 3
                  3 units + $3 ----- 12 notebooks

As 3 units also equal to 11 notebooks, thus:

                  11 notebooks + $3 ----- 12 notebooks
                  1 notebook = $3

                  3 units = $33 (11notebooks)
                  1 unit = $11
                  5 units = $55

                  Chloe had $55

                      Hi ozora,

The questioned said "the female increased by15% while the number of male increased by 20%"

                      At first Male is 40%,
                      20% of the 40% is 8%

                      So now male is 40+8 = 48%

                      same to female.

Jack bought some pens and erasers for a total of $100.10. He spent $9.10 more on the pens than the erasers. Each pen costs $3.70 more than each eraser. Jack bought 6 times more erasers than pens. How much does each pen cost? Ans: 4.20

                        How to do.
