I think the punishment was also for their crimes on top of their \"take rap\" charges.

One man was speeding - $150 fine + 6 points.

Other man was for running Illegal Internet Gambling + hurting Police officer.

How was this similar offences ?
Do you think if u were taking a walk then bash up a Neighbourhood Police Post police officer, the TP will fine u and give u demerit points ?

With apologies.....I read from the blog, failed to notice that there were mention of 3 cases, this thread is only about case 1 & 2....

Anyway, as someone pointed out....one was speeding at 95KPH, the other was beating red lights

                      θΆŠζθΆŠι»‘!

When one receives a police summon for traffic offence in d mail,
isn't it d normal standard procedure for d TP to mail d summons to registered owner of car
to inform him/her of d offence n also for owner to provide details of driver if not himself/herself?
                      Can someone cfm dis?

Incidentally, d Law Minister's ex has just released a book entitled
                      \"Authoritarian Rule of Law\".
Brief fr Cambridge University Press (underline mine)-
\"Scholars have generally assumed that authoritarianism and rule of law are mutually incompatible. Convinced that free markets and rule of law must tip authoritarian societies in a liberal direction, nearly all studies of law and contemporary politics have neglected that improbable coupling: authoritarian rule of law. Through a focus on Singapore, this book presents an analysis of authoritarian legalism. It shows how prosperity, public discourse, and a rigorous observance of legal procedure have enabled a reconfigured rule of law such that liberal form encases illiberal content. Institutions and process at the bedrock of rule of law and liberal democracy become tools to constrain dissent while augmenting discretionary political power – even as the national and international legitimacy of the state is secured. This book offers a valuable and original contribution to understanding the complexities of law, language and legitimacy in our time.

experienced before so can confirm. if one is caught speeding etc and the summons is mailed, it will be sent to the car owner. Car owner then must fill in who is the person behind the wheel at time of offence.
