      sunflower2005:

my girl has very bad eyes sight condition, now already R650 and L600

who can help me...and she is only 7

Hi sunflower2005, I think your girl also started wearing classes mid year in K1 right? My kids too, just started a month back. My younger one quite high at about 300 deg, but we have started them on the atropine eye drop treatment, once a week. Most eye specialists actually recommend daily use, but the one we are seeing is more conservative, only 1 drop every Friday which we find more acceptable compared to daily use( since no one knows for sure any long term side effects). Genetics aside, I think ultimately need to cut down on their time spent doing near activities like reading, doing work. Not easy for sure but at least need to try.... :rotflmao:

      Yup ! sean wife,
We actually trying hard to not put her on atropine.. bc of side effects.
one more reason is bc my girl is kind of outdoor type.. she likes swimming ,cycling, roller blading...
Docs mentioned if this jun increase degree again then no choice have to try e atropine treatment 😞
I want to find out from u , after ur child on atropine did u made special spectacle? which type ? and how much ?

I read a report somewhere that as long as kids are exposed to sunlight for at least 1 hr per day. Their eyesight will be ok. Think there is some things in the sunlight that helps eyesight.

When a kid is exposed to sunlight ie outside, he is looking far distance. I guess what the report may suggest was to be out in the sun to make sure the eyes are looking far instead of near distance, which is the main reason for our kids' myopia. Our kids are home most of the time, doing work, reading, watching tv, playing smartphone or iPad or handheld electronic or computer games etc, thus confining their eyes to looking at near distance. Doctors recommend that the kids should go out of the house and/or play in park, exercise etc for minimum 1.5 hours a day. Our Singaporeans parents have sub-contracted part of childcare to iPhone, iPad, handheld games and kids here are being made to read at a very young age eg 3-4 years thus high incidence of myopia even among the pre schoolers. How many times have we gone to gatherings and restaurants and see kids focusing on their iPhone, iPad, electronic games etc instead of engaging in meaningful conversations with each other or with the adults?.....the myopia situation will just get worse.

Anyone has small kids ~5yo with 300+ degree longsightedness and need to wear specs? Is it possible to outgrow it?

Btw are swissflex glasses good for small kids?

My 4.5 yr old daughter just diagnosed to have longsightedness too with astigmatism and slight squint, one eye 350 deg, the other eye 500 deg (sob!!!). Went to two specialists to confirm her condition, and that she must wear glasses. both recommended starting at 150 degrees for the glasses first. And both cannot confirm she will outgrow her longsightedness because the degree is already so high 😢 😢 I have near perfect eyesight and my hubby's is only 200+deg shortsightedness both eyes, so her condition was a shock to us.

Luanee, not sure if possible to outgrow the longsightedness, but your kid's case is better than mine, so the chances of his/her eyesight reducing to more manageable levels sounds good. Just make sure his/her eyesight doesn't worsen during this period when the eye lens can still lengthen till about age 6-7.

Hi, my son is 7 and complains of headache. I am wondering if it is his vision, he did complain that sometimes he cant see the whiteboard. Brought him for eye check in a spec shop, and the guy said no problem found from the machine, but said that for children better go to snec. Is those machine accurate for 7 yo children or must go eye specialist?

My 8yo boy complains of headaches and dizziness too. Think I better take him for a check up soon.

Anyway, the headaches and/or dizziness could also be due to low blood sugar and lack of water intake. These boys may not eat enough during the breaks and dun drink enough in primary school coz teachers dun force them to drink.
