Yes, I feel as though I am the one taking PSLE. The feeling is more real than donkey years ago when I took it. The homework brought home today is minimal.

last time i don't remember studying so hard for PSLE ! i can still remember i was playing 5 stones and zero-thousand point with my next-door neighbour's daughters one week before PSLE !

During our time, parents were not so Kiasu & so involved in their kids' studies. Of course, the standard is not so high too.

question, does your dc sch gives out napfa certificates? my kids only have the napfa test results (eg. bronze, silver etc) indicated in the report book after the sa2 exam. since napfa is compulsory, do all schs give certificates, some schs give, or none give at all?

Same here. Only test result indicated on the report book last year. No cert given.

I was told that teachers still in child-bearing age do not teach P6 classes...don't know how true.

Not so nice to mention my DD school. I attended a parent talk earlier this year. Conducted by the principal. She says last year batch of PSLE result not bad. When she flash up the slide, I almost fainted. The ave T Score in the school last year is 210. And she says not bad!!!

I think it is your DD school's culture. The problem lies on the principal is not Kiasu. However, every batch of students is different. Hope your DD's batch does better this year. My son is from a neighbourhood school in Sengkang. His school principal is very Kiasu. The school pushes & motivates the kids. Past 2 years top students score 275 and with 100% passing rate. My friend's son is from another Sengkang school. The principal is even more Kiasu. His school engaged Adam Khoo to conduct motivation camp for P6 last week.

My child's school is having supplementary everyday starting from this term. It used to be a rest day on Wed. I guess heat is up for PSLE.

Wow.. No joke. Still no news from my boy's school. It is normal that parents have to sign & return the consent form on the first week of the term & lessons start on the second week. This week does not have supplementary class. This Fri is Parents & Teachers Meeting (PTM) Day. Next Mon is Youth Day & next Wed is E Learning Day.

DS sch started supplementary/remedial on 1st week too. No consent form seen yet. This week, I don't know when to expect him home. Yesterday he did not return by 'normal' time as he was told to stay back. Hope today will not be the same else his tution will be affected. Sch homework is still minimal so far. Gosh, don't know next Mon is Youth Day, yet to receive notification from sch!

Hi Parents


Anyone simply wishes that PSLE comes right now so our DD & DS and we parents too, can get it over with and end our anxieties and stress fast? I must say the hardwork put into PSLE preparation can be rather grueling…mentally, physically and emotionally draining. Can’t wait to just end the misery fast…no need to wait till Oct.

But then again, the question is have our kids done enough and are READY for PSLE?

Any suggestions for a less stressful way to deal with the PSLE?

I guess I won’t be seeing much my son in the next 3 months. The school has arranged additional enrichment lessons for math & science coached by external vendor to prepare for the last dash. He will be coming home only around 4pm practically everyday. On top of that. Some of his classmates have taken the initiative to ask their form teacher to stay back with them after their extra lessons so that the boys can do more revisions until 530pm. Thankfully, the form teacher is very responsible and willing to stay back to help the class.


The school has really gone into high gear for the P6ers, organized motivational talk to perk the kids up and arranging all the supplementary and enrichment classes. Not a bad thing for the boys who are not able to manage their time themselves.

Nowadays the kids can solve funny funny questions which seem that the standard is very high. However, I feel that they may not have very strong foundation compared to our time.

I guess is lack of resources. The subject teachers have proper timetable during lessons time for different classes but when it comes to extra lessons, one teacher can't possibly take all the classes at one go after school. My DS math teacher teaches 3 P6 classes.
