MrsSeah:
This was posted a few threads back.I know an ex-contract cleaner for our office who are CH member. That time she seem happy with the church because she received lots of help from them. She is a low income earner and couldn't effort tuition for her kids. Her kids have free tuition there and do quite well in their studies and both are able to go to poly. She told me that the member there are very united and help each other. I felt that as a low income earner who are able to receive this type of help is good.
I didn't ask her whether she got financial help from them or not. Neither do I ask her whether she contribute her income.
From what she said, some of them do benefit from joining CH.

They definitely seem to be a tight-knitted group, provided your are with them. But once, you want out, you become a total outcast, as was mentioned in the forum. -

The Shaw guy in the under-aged prostitution case must think the CHC case is a GOd-send for him, at least he's not under the strongest spotlight.

:rotflmao: At least his prayers are answered. :imanangel: -

His case was more like a governance issue rather than desire to siphone $$$Ming Yi \"swallow\" peanuts, compared to Kong Hee involved in (earlier 23 + another 26) = Total $49 million ! :gloomy:

I was from CHC. I left about a year ago because my wife wanted us to be in the same church. Until now, my leader in CHC keeps in contact with me. They do not treat us like outcast because we have left. I would say that the people in CHC are not blind followers of Pastor Kong. We have seen how much he and his wife has impacted lives, and how the cross over project has built orphanages and done a lot of good.
I myself benefitted a lot from his teachings. Sometimes, we are quick to judge and ‘celebrate’ the bad news but nobody wants to hear all the good that is done and remember. Even if people say I am stupid to believe in him and to stand for him if he is guilty, I will do that. I cannot forget all the good that this couple has done. -

The 10% amount is based on an Old Testament practice of giving 10% of your produce. But bear in mind in that day's context, the tithe was not only used to maintain God's temple, but also for day to day running of the community i.e. your modern day income tax.
This amount is still recommended today by many churches. But of course this is voluntary, and beside there are other ways to give back to the church beside monetary contributions, e.g. serving in ministries, cooking refreshments, flower offerings, etc. The issue with CHC was that the church was quite strict in enforcing this 10% rule. Although yes technically it is voluntary, if you are in a CG, if you late or do not pay your tithe, there is emotional repercussions from your leaders and members if you get what I mean.
Which verse and book in the Old Testament talks about tithing. I am curious and want to read more about it. -
This will be the talk of the the town for months to come.

The money in this case went mainly to finance the crossover project, yes they may have spent some on their own expenses but it was mainly to bring the gospel to the unchurched in the entertainment world. I am not from their church, but I believe in what they were trying to do. Just maybe should have been more careful about governance.
His case was more like a governance issue rather than desire to siphone $$$phtthp:

He was trying to help his PA, but he bypassed proper procedure n it was not d right way to do it.
He was not a corrupt person in d same mold of d PUB, SIA, LTA guys. -
Whether it is alright to use the church’s funds to finance the crossover project is another issue altogether. The fact that the accounts are falstified and some actions were taken to cover up reveal that people in the act know that it is not right to use the funds. If it is right, why need to alter the accounts and take extra steps to cover up? Wonder who is their auditor and how is the auditor implicated in this case.

Only the culprits know what exactly is going on. They can justify until the cows come home. This thread can extend another 100 pages…
only God knows what is going on. The law of Karma takes over.
