-
Hi, as first time p6 mum, need ur advise.
If my ds can get DSA to RI, HCI, ACSI and NUSH. Which school should I choose for him? I don’t know whether my son independent learner, I don’t push he will get 70-90 range, I push he will get 80-100. He like to play a lot and competitive playing two sport. He like math n science, but I don’t think he is kinna too good as he never get sliver, gold… for NMOS, etc… he never train for it also. I think he is neither here nor there… and difficult time thinking for him… ask him which school he want …then he ask me back this stupid question, can I go to diff school for CCA and diff subject to study in diff school.? -

You applied to all four schools? Perhaps you should wait to see which schools offer your son a CO then cross that bridge when you come to it. Is he from mainstream and have his results always been stellar, assuming he applied via academic domain?Hi, as first time p6 mum, need ur advise.

Yes, as little kiasu, applied to all four school. Yes, u r right I should be start think about when I get CO...... But can't help started thinking when other parent ask me which school he will go, when my ds got shortlisted... I know that still long way to go. He is from mainstream. His result is not so poor. Top 5% in normal school and got best in math award... and some gold, silver award for his math, sci project, etc..... UNSW he got D but not HD....that is the thing I m saying that he is neither here nor there, not so good, but not so bad. He applied DSA via sport to RI, HCI, ACSI.

Hi little Kiasu, Your son’s result is consider good for a mainstream kid. Whether he gets into the schools will depend on how good is his sport ( Did he win at national level?) & his interview or test results. Good luck to your son DSA.

Just wondering and pardon my ignorance, even if the child is in IP a school with an untested IP programme, he/she can still transfer to another secondary school with a longer IP track record at Secondary 3, eventually moving on to a more established JC??Thanks to all who have replied.
jtoh and MotherHen, the untested JC is one of our considerations. Once committed, she does not even given a chance to get transfer at JC1. Frankly, I am ok with her staying put but my dh prefers the Raffles brandname.
Thanks. -

alng,
as you're concerned about (untested Sec IP Programme + untested new Junior College programme + your husband prefer the Raffles brandname), perhaps let your girl enrol RGSS first. i believe your daughter will thrive well there!
should there come a time (if really, really needed which we hope not) whereby she wish to get transfer into untested Seconday school, IMHO :-
to seek transfer into untested Sec school is easier, compared to the reverse, ie. seek transfer into RGS Secondary (very tough).
no matter what, RGS IP Secondary curriculum had been proven & is an excellent school !

Just, want to know, if you want to aim for raffles, what kind of morks should i be getting in sa1?Thanks in advance. -

I don't know about SA1 but you should be getting a 262 for Prelim. PSLE marks tend to be not far away from your Prelim marks. The difference between my PSLE marks and Prelim marks is only 2 marks. One of the students here!

262 is base on last year PSLE. This year COP will be higher. Dragon babies will be sitting for PSLE. More boys will be competing for the same number of places. You should aim for 265. Your SA1 should be some where around 85 to 90%, depending on your school's standard. Some schools papers are tougher than the others.
