amount spent on Wallets --> $5850 - $5125 = $725
Ann bought 5 times as many bags as wallets
Number of bags : Number of wallets --> 5 units : 1 unit
So, amount for 1 unit of bags --> $5125 ÷ 5 = $1025
$1025 - $705 = $300 (difference in cost of 1 unit of bags vs 1 unit of wallets)
$300 ÷ $ 60 = 5

Number of wallets bought --> 1 unit = 5
Cost of 1 wallet = $ 725 / 5 = $145

I am having problem with my girl who is in p3. Her teacher uses onsponge and to me, it is tough.

With all the models, required to be drawn, I dont think i can assist her in any way.

How do you parents handle, why are you able to answer the questions?
Are there books out there that can teach parents like me?

Sigh. I feel hopeless. and she has 10questions from problemsum.com daily, or 50 per week.

Should I engage a school teacher tutor for her? Is that the way to go? She is now having maths tuition with science combined, with 2 other boys at Formation.

I understand your predicament as I faced the same problems with my kid when he was at P3. No choice lah, we parents have also to re-learn so that we can help our kids with the maths problem sums.

Using models will help the child to visualise although it is not always easy to construct the models. Personally, using Units method is more efficent but when the kids are young, they may not be able to comprehend so easily. So, must step-by-step, sigh....!
I have another girl in P3 now and I found a book at Popular that teaches them how to solve using models. They will provide all the answers at the back of the book and I feel it is quite helpful to expose them to the different questions.

I used it to drill her during the June school holidays. I can't remember the name/author of the book. I will post back if I can remember to check when I go back home tonight. Good luck!
