It doesn't mean that he's not guilty and a totally free man. It's just that there is lack of evidence or other reasons and if they decide to charge him again, they can still haul him to court.

what happen if he dash back to bangla ?

      Bangla-dash lor.

Bangla-dash lor.[/quote]If Singapore and Bangla-dash has agreement, then their police will get and send him back here. IMHO, usually when acquitted means 'free' unless something crops up like donkey years later somebody produces some evidence then get file reopen. If not, case half close liao. He's very lucky so we have to wait and see whether they reveal the reasons why they come to this verdict. Usually is evidence not strong enough lor. :gloomy:

Yes, it is significant that he was not acquitted but just discharge due to insufficient evidence.

However, once he is allowed to return to Bangladesh, even if fresh evidence surface, very difficult to get him back in my opinion.

To convict him of murder, the prosecution must be able to prove beyond reasonable doubt which in this case, I don't think they had.

Yes, will be interested to know why the judge came to this verdict.

there was an article in today’s papers giving HIS version. something about the maid being depressed and using the knife to slash herself, forced him to have intercourse with her, and even forced him to open the water tank. Thereafter supposedly she put her head in the water.

it sounds very fantastical. I’m not sure what to believe.

Any right minded person will find this ridiculous. They would have asked questions like:
                    Why don't you stop her?
You are a man, surely you can overpower her and grab the knife?
                    You can seek help?
Why are you there in the first place?
There are many chances to stop her, why didn't you?
It wasn't that she threatened to jump from the building, when she climbed into the tank, he could have grabbed her etc.
Definitely doubtful testimony but when there's no concrete evidence even you know that's the man right in front of you also cannot do anything. Surprisingly that prosecution didn't raise such questions which should easily overturn his testimony. Maybe his defense lawyer better than the prosecution. This could be the case as it's battle between the wits. :siam:

The man will have to live his whole life knowing what actually happened.

I agree that the story is way too fantastical - dramastory writers also cannot come up with something as ‘original’ as that.
