      Gekktan,

My question will be also, while you eligible for phase 2b of a boys school, what are your chances? My neighbour was eligible for phase2b in pei hwa pri but could not get in. She faced ballot again in phase 2c.
If you can get in phase 2b to the boys school, does it have good affiliation to a reasonable secondary school?
Personally for me, if travelling takes up too much time and I can’t relocate, I will forgo the so call good school. But I will be wary about schools with too new curriculum and who made statements like ‘don’t choose us if you are concern about results orientad schools’. The school could have reassured parents that with learning beyond class room, results will fall in place when it is time. I hope that is only the interpretation of the person who heard this such comments.

Hi all, I don’t know what are the chances for phase 2b, but because it’s a catholic school and we r Catholics so reasonably, the chances r slightly higher than phase 2c. I’m thinking that if I tried n can’t get in, at least I have back up like phae 2c. I’m wondering how they ‘ballot’? Thru computerized system or they will screen thru all the applns?

Pei Hwa was very advanced in balloting. They used \"lottery balls\" method. Not the paper slips. All have equal chance.

Last year. She didn't manage to get into pei hwa in phase 2b as we were more than 2km away. Luckily she managed to get into the catholic school within 1km via ballot in phase 2c.

Is it necessary to go for enrichment class before the child starts primary one? Which school would you recommend around Sengkang area for both English and Chinese?

Ministers & MP don't send their kids to neighbourhood schools. Parents will not move to another location or join PV, if all schools are equally good. Nan Chiau is the most popular in Sengkang & Meetoh is popular in Punggol. Need to be within 1 km to ballot for the schools. Become a PV to increase your chance of getting into the schools.

Preferably attend phonics class (1 year course, once a week) in K1 & Hanyu Pinyin class (1 month intensive course, June or Dec holiday) K2. Maybe you can check out Just education for Phonics & Beijing for Hanyu Pinyin.
