      Yiuong:
      Hi everyone,

I am desperately needing advices from you lot here. My husband and I are both PR but our kids aren't. We have just submitted the PR applications for them last week and apparently it takes 4-6 months to approve. My eldest son is going to P1 next year, I guess there is no way for us to register him in any school during P2C or P2CS but to wait until P3 for foreigners registration? We are living within 1.1km from Teck Whye, 1.2km from CCKPS, 1.4km from DLS, 1.6km from Concord, 2.3km from Kranji, 2.75km from Yew Tee, and 3.26km from Unity. I think there is nothing I can do at the moment but to check the vacancies available after P2CS by calling up the schools? What happens if all the 8 schools in CCK is filled up? WIll the MOE send my child to the next nearest school in the nearby neighbourhood?

Another question, we are also looking for a kindergarten in CCK, can anyone recommend one? I heard Kinderland and Apple Tree is good but their fees are high. Has anyone sent their child to PCF Choa Chu Kang Blk 10 or Blk 123? Are they any good?

Thank you so much in advance.
Hi Yiuong, without a PR status, your child can only apply during Phase 3. At this phase, distance marking from home is no longer a consideration. Application is on a 1st come 1st served basis. What you need to do is to find out the remaining balance of the nearby schools upon the annoucement 2C results, decide the school of your (limited)choice and head to the school as early as possible at the start of Phase 3. Depending on your choice, the number of places left of your choice and the number of people like yourself in this phase, certain schools are known to have queues forming even before the gates are opened.

Based on my limited choice of schools, which one is better? I heard lots of negative reviews on Kranji. Should I consider sending him to a school in nearby neighborhood?

Thanks for your reply. Which school would u recommend personally?

I am afraid I am not able to help here as I don't stay in this part of S'pore.
In the passed few years, Kranji seem to have slightly more supporters towards the later stage of registration but thoses are only numbers....

You may want to check out their website and parents networking forum in KSP for more ideas of their programme, mission statements etc.... Call the schools to see if they still have any open house although it may be a bit late now but no harm trying... go take a walk around the school area during end of session to have an idea of each school's characteristics too...

            Good Luck !

Oh my bad, my information is outdated

PLEASE read below excerpt from MOE website:

              Phase 3 Registration

Children who are neither Singapore Citizens nor Singapore Permanent Residents may register at the schools directly under Phase 3. The hours of registration are from 8.00 am to 11.00 am and from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.

Balloting will be conducted in Phase 3 if the number of applications exceeds the number of places available. Balloting will be conducted on the day after Phase 3 registration.

With effect from the 2012 Primary One Registration Exercise, for non Singapore Citizen / Singapore Permanent Resident children who have not been able to obtain a place at their school of choice after the Phase 3 balloting, MOE will post the child to a suitable primary school with vacancy. The posting outcome will be released to the parent a month after the balloting. MOE posting is final and no appeals will be entertained. Schools will also not entertain any walk-in applications.

Thanks guys for all the useful tips and reply.

As we have only submitted the PR application for our children last week, which will take 4-6 months to process, does it mean that we won’t be able to register my son duringng Phase 3 as he needs to have some sort of status to stay in the Singapore, for example a student pass or a dependant pass?

                      Thanks in advance.

Call MOE hotline, confirm if your son needs to be physically present during registration. I think not, but just to be safe. During registration day, you'll need to bring along the following issued from your native country. You can apply for his study visa with ICA after the application is successful. He can remain in Singapore under a student visa while awaiting his PR application.

                        1.The child’s Birth Certificate
                        2.The child’s Passport
3.The child’s Immigration Exemption Order / Dependant’s Pass (if any)
4.The child’s Qualifying Test / Admissions Exercise for International Students letter stating that they are eligible for school admission (if any)
                        5.Parents’ travel document/Singapore NRIC/Entry or Re-entry Permit/Employment Pass/Work Permit
                        6.The child’s Immunisation Certificates
