      Hi jheng

For the IP school I think there's no affiliation to primary school. Entry by merit only, right?

Yes. From next year onwards, school starts IP, but will still have \"O\" level programmes. (You may compare with Victoria School which started IP this year, which has both IP & \"O\" levels).

According to Mr Lee, the principal, IP cut off point is around 250. No discount for own Pri school students.

For \"O\" level programme, affiliate students will have discount, about 10 points compared to those from other Pri sch.

Thanks for the info, Careermum.. Is your boy in P6 this year?

One of them is Sec 1 in CHS Secondary; the other 2 still in Pri Section, so I still need to keep myself up to date 😄

            Hi all,

My DS is going to CHS for P1 next year… just got the confirmation letter from CHS yesterday. So for 2013 P1 batch, anyone has any idea if they still have priviledge discount of 10 points (+/-) for normal ‘O’ level stream?

            Regards

Hi, my boy isn’t a CHS boy yet but we are considering if we shld place him there. Hubby is a old boy so we will be able to secure a place for him in the earlier phase. One concern will be distance as we stay in Simei but the school is relatively near my workplace. We also want to find out more abt the school through this forum to help us make this decision.

I have read through the previous post and understand a little abt the school and how it functions. I heard from a friend’s friend that with regards to CCA selection, the kids are placed into what the school thinks the child will excel in and disregard their interest. That person’s son was made to join dance even though he does not like it. However luckily because he has enough points from being a Prefect and Maths Olympaid, he did not have to join Dance eventually. Although this is a small matter but I can imagine how unhappy a child will be if made to join/spend time on an activity that he does not like so would like to check with parents of CHS boys if this is indeed true.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Most CCA is indeed by selection basis. However, it is up to the parent/boy to accept the invitation, hence if he really doesn’t enjoy Dance, he can choose not to accept the invitation.

My son was selected to be in dance as well, and didn’t quite like it after a while. I withdrew him after a discussion with the teacher in charge. He’s now happy in another CCA. There was no hard feelings at all… all very amicable. I also know of several other boys in the same situation. It’s not a major issue, I think.

PS: Is there a "point system" for CCAs at Cat High?.. First time I hear of it 😞

I've never heard and never seen of CCA points for primary school. And I've 2 older boys that went thru CHS pri, one who is in CHS sec now.

Where are these \"points\" shown or recorded??

Thanks for the confirmation. I’ve never seen it in the school report book either. Perhaps Sbhy was misinformed…

I have seen \"CIP Points\" in the report book though - but I do not know what it can be used for.
