RSS 14 places vs 18 registration. Will distance play a part? If total registration last within 1km all will get in. The rest than ballot or regardless of distances all 18 will need to ballot for 14 places? Thank you.

SC gets in first. However if all 18 are SCs, distance rules kicks in. It will be unfortunate if all 18 all are <1km. Then all 18 will have to ballot. :xedfingers:
      Can't be so lucky.

      Thank you.
When will we know if the school will be conducting balloting? Must I call on Mon or MOE website?

On your registration form, the date is stated if there's balloting.
From what I read on the post, most parents call up the school for the update on the latest figures. It's faster this way than to wait for moe consolidated update.

Not advisable to bring children along during balloting. Good luck.

RSS & TP need to ballot!

Wonder if MOE would update the distance information and the no. of SC vs PR. That would give parents of later phases and future years a better gauge.

I guess MOE does not disclose on the website but you are free to call the school to check the SC vs PR numbers.

I had the impression that Yu Neng is almost as popular as RSS? doesn’t seems to be so from the numbers…

They’re so near to each other… maybe parents who got no chance at RSS can try YN…?

              Must strategise carefully....

Citizen child(A) applied under P2C to RSS, failed ballot....
Have to register in other available schools.

PR child(B) registered in YN under P2C. As total number of applicants did not exceed the vacancies, child gets in.

Child (A) has to apply again in P2Csupp. The remaining choice in Bedok is probably Fengshan, Bedok Green or somewhere further.

SC over PR? Maybe MOE has to redefine this statement.

A difficult choice for parents. But most would still try their luck for 14 vacancies though. So we can only wish them good luck.

before you can even register for Phase 2C, you need to withdraw your child from the earlier phase first. In the event you fail at 2C balloting, you cannot go back to your previous school anymore ; but to go forward to next phase, ie. 2C Supp.

however if you can get in at Phase 2C, Congratulations !

                  reason:
MOE centralized computer system constantly keeps track all the time. At any point in time, parents are permitted to enrol their child into one & only 1 school only.

If I register my child online at my preferred school, on the last day 1 Aug 2012 if I know the number within 1 km exceed the number of available seats for p2C, how do I withdraw and register at my next preferred choice if it can only be done onsite?

Withdraw in the morning, apply in the afternoon?

You'll never know what will happen in the future.

Recently there's a lot of uproar as some schools has asked PVs to come up with proposals.
Who knows whether MOE may abolish PV system.
                        V True.
I have heard about popular schools asking \"potential PVs\" what they can contribute to the school (it's no longer the usual traffic warden, librarian thingy (which is still prevalent in the \"not as popular\" schools)). If this becomes the trend, again it promotes elitism as only the very rich and/or highly educated can contribute (eg owner of an enrichment centre may offer their programme FOC to the school etc)

On the other hand, I have also heard working-class parents complaining that this whole PV thingy benefits the rich (as usually it's the \"tai tai\"s or self-employed who have the time & flexibility to PV on a regular basis). Working-class parents can only PV on ad-hoc basis (eg helping out at swimming meets, carnivals etc) and not on a regular weekly basis which may not sit very well with the school if the school already has substantial support in ad-hoc assignments.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised if more changes were to be announced for next year. And apologies I digressed...but i guess it's an area of discussion \"somehow relevant\" (re p1 registration) to this thread .. now back to Bedok schools' discussion 🙂
