I’ve not paid much attention to the time of death of these maids. Maybe it’s worth looking into the time. Come to think of it, besides trying to run away, could they be sneaking out of the house to meet someone/BF?

This happened years ago. My friend would make the maid pay for things that she has damaged. My friend’s indo maid was very naughty, she would sit on the window ledge rocking about, one leg inside and one leg outside just to taunt my friend, saying that if she falls off then she won’t have to have her salary cut for the things that she ruins and my friend would feel guilty for her fall. My friend transfered this maid out 2 months later.

My friend was wheelchair bound. She needed her family to sort things out for her, hiring and transfer of maids.

I feel bad for her when she calls me sounding so helpless and upset with her maid. Several times, I brought my maid over and talk to my friend’s maid when she was acting out. After a few times, my maid told me that this maid is young and very spiteful, can’t really talk much sense into her.

I’ve seen my friend buy this maid presents, nice watches, t shirts, girly stuff just a month into her job, she was hoping to motivate her to work well.

Then when the maid start breaking and ruining stuff, my friend told her that the cost of damages will be deducted from her pay, she would start taunting my friend by sitting on the window ledge.

My friend specifically told her not to clean windows in this dangerous manner or stand on any stool, she does it to taunt and spite my friend when my friend scolds her or confront her on chores not done properly.

Looks like many employers may soon be unable to afford one soon.

And many employers of filipino FDW may find themselves in hot soup soon - read the article in the ST about maids sueing cos their salaries not > $500.

So stressful employing a maid nowadays. Will they get preggy? Will they let bf into the house?
Will they fall/ jump out the window? Will they run away although you didn’t ill-treat them- the whole of SG will assume it’s your fault. ( I have spoken to some runaway maids, and they admitted that they were not ill-treated)
Will they take instructions, or will they defy you and argue/ sulk?
              etc etc etc

I was reading about the phil maid thing in Sunday Times too. First it was the phil maid min salary, then some employers swtich to indo maids…then indo maids new policies…then enter the myanmar maids…now it seems myanmar maids also ‘hang up to sell’… thinking with the indo maid crunch also think that they can demand higher salary…

                  Hi,

Can I check if ur Indo maids puasa? Heard some maids don't. My maid wants to puasa, so I told family members don't let her do too much work. But when she puasa, her face is so black like i forbid her from eating.
                  :?

My current indo maid, just started work a month ago decided not to fast.

I’ve had several indo maids through the years, when they are fasting that year, I will buy dates for them to break their fast and let her have that hour to prepare breaking fast and eating. I also cook extra for left overs for them to eat at whatever time they suppose to eat.

                      Hi,

Fasting in the month of Ramadhan is compulsory to all Muslim. Eventhough if she fast, she has to do her normal job as usual, just like us. We don't normally give fasting as an excuse to do light job.

Some maid do not fast as they are not that religious. It all depends on the employer and her ability to cope while fasting.

                        Thanks for both your replies.

Thing is i asked her to:
                        - cook whatever she needs to eat for herself in the morning -> don't want
                        - if too troublesome to cook early morning, cook extra at night so she only need to heat up and eat in the morning -> don't want

Worst, she missed the timing to eat in the morning, she refused to eat anything at all, even though we told her to eat something.
                        Really headache. :slapshead:
