Have been following this post for days now and it's interesting to witness the revelation of the human facade. I understand the stresses and anxiety as i'm due for balloting myself, in a few days too. But as i was getting caught up in the 'voices in my head' syndrome, something struck me. \"If it's meant to be, it will be\". religious or atheist alike will at some point agree that SOME things just happen and are NOT in our control. Call it fate, destiny or serendipity, but things happen, no matter how we try to fight and take things into our own hands. I applaud all parents here who have 'moved heaven and earth' and make relentless efforts for the good of their children, its incredible, truly. But after all that, there's nothing else we can do. I'm pretty certain that the schools and MOE are not blind to the iniquities involved and i'm even more certain that what goes around comes around... Maybe in the midst of our eagerness and well-intentions, we lose sight of what truly matter-\"Everything happens for a reason\".

We all want the best for our children, but life is also unfair and it's something we need to grapple with and in the process teach our children how to deal with it. Propitious or not, we have to face it like adults and deal with what life throws at us with full strength...
Here's wishing all of you the very best of luck and life 🙂

              Gogglesgirl:
Then honestly, you have to give credit to those who devoted time to either be PVs or GRLs, because they have made the sacrifices. You didn't and I know not everyone has time for everything especially in the competitive society we live in. I understand what you mean but at the end of the day, you reap what you sow and like everything else, their places to schools were also not guaranteed but it did put them in a better place/position. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. But again, if there is any injustice, I hope these GRLs would not quit the moment their kids get into schools. So, is there any full proof system? - I rest my case.

My comment re \"worthy of being parents\" - maybe you missed the other 50 odd pages. My point is simply we need to be good role models to our kids, otherwise we won't be able to progress as human beings and as a nation - how is the next generation going to be better than the last? Our kids' good moral upbringing are only as good as their parents' day to day behaviour and teachings - most importantly, practice what we/they preach - we are no saints and we are responsible for their behaviour - at least I take personal responsibility. No yardstick - Make no mistake - we are all willing to die for our kids and do our utmost to help them in their lives but like everything else, there are lines drawn. I was referring to a specific example and apologies if it was too general.
Actually our discussion was not about 2b parents. I dun think anyone here thinks 2b parents are undeserving. U cant just put words in ppl's mouth or make sweeping remarks.
We were discussing about ppl who cheat on addresses. Perhaps u could quote the particular post you were referring to when u post. When u jumped in with your first post it was confusing which post u were referring to.

                Scary:
May not be fair to look at just one year. Also, the background of the kids in MGS and e.g. St. Hilda can be very different. Kids in MGS and SCGS may have the financial means to attend more tuitions, enrichments classes, etc.

                Yes, you're right.
let's revisit SCGS psle comparison, after this year 2012 psle cohort graduate.
observe for minimal 5 years, see pattern trend.

                not only SCGS.
also monitor MGS, RGPS, CHIJ St Nicholas (since 2013 St Nick introduce IP track, parents also expecting St Nick to produce stellar results, right ?)

what other girls' school can we think of, besides St Marg, PLMGS, CHIJ Toa Payoh ?
btw, anyone has Quality % pass breakdown for ACS Barker, Nanyang & St Nick?

                reason:
some schools standard drop, unlike the glorious hey days in the past.
need to monitor, many changes had taken place after so many years.

Thanks phtthp for the list. As I know SCGS is not top ten primary school in terms of academy. This can be found in this forum on Top ten primary school academy excellency list. I am confused.

SCGS is not about academic results. They are known for their holistic exposure to other aspects of education which parents may consider more important than academics. Having said this, it does not mean their academics is not strong, it is just not their only main focus, they try to emphasize on other things as well.

I fully agree! Of all my SCGS friends I have not met one who is not articulate and gracious and polite.

For those who applied under GRC if there out of 2km they need to go for balloting right.

As in all phases, balloting kicks in when there are more applicants that what the school can offer.

The priority in securing a place is based on distance, those staying nearest get in first in the following order: <1km, 1-2km and lastly>2km.

There will not be any distinction between PVs, church/clan members and GRLs. So in SCGS case the 7 applicants that resides >2km from the school be they PVs or GRLs have equal chance in balloting, it all depends on who ladyluck favours!

As for how many PVs in SCGS, don't think anyone has the info, the sch keeps it confidential.

It is definitely stressful to be at the bottom of the pecking order but   :nunchuk: won't get us anywhere.

We can respond and react better when we are clear-headed.

So keep 🆒 and best of luck to all P2B parents going for balloting this Wed and to P2C parents too.
