there were about 20 or so P1 girls taking the test in Jan this year, and the principal sort of hinted that there were only \"1 or 2\" vacancies available.... Chances even worse than balloting!

currently, SCGS still conducting entrance admission tests for :-
      P2, P3, P4 and P5 (besides P1).

      Question:-

besides abolish P1, is SCGS also going to abolish P2, P3, P4 and P5 entrance admission tests as well, for those keen to seek Transfer, at different level?

What is the PSLE score to enter SCGS secondary if a child is from SCGS primary? Is there any bonus? Is there any thread on this and secondary school performance? Thanks.

current year is 220 for pri to go to sec for scgs own girls

Thanks. Btw, does the school give extra bonus points to SCGS own girls on top of their own PSLE score points so to achieve 220?

Thanks. I will help my DS to score 220 or more to enter SCGS or RGS than. No need balloting. If no primary for SCGS aim for secondary for SCGS or RGS. God's willing.

DS or you mean dd? Sorry SCGS and RGS will not agree to take in a boy. šŸ˜„

Your dd has gotten into SCGS primary? 220 is the COP for SCGS primary girls. For others, the COP is about 25x to enter SCGS secondary.

                      jass:
yesterday when I went to fetch my girl at scgs. it was drizzling and i witnessed how a mum nagged and scolded the guard (Not in his face).

I was standing at the guard post. I could hear her \"cursing\" and scolding, as she walks from the zebra crossing to the guard post. She was talking to her p5 or 6 daughter: \"the guard so dumb-headed, there are so many school buses, why didn't hold the zebra crossing and let you cross? So stupid. the guard so stupid so dumb headed.\"

My p3 girl who was behind this mom heard everything, managed to squeeze past her and ran to me.

the first thing she did was to whisper to me \"mom, did you hear that? the mommy can't stop scolding the guard, when it is not his fault. she scolded him dumb. why did she do that? and her daughter is listening to all the rubbish. she is setting such a bad example for her girl.\"

i hope we dont step on toes of girls of such p1mummy or the zebra crossing mum. hopefully the kids are not influenced too.

And for scgs drivers out there or soon to be (next yr). let's be more considerate. when we drive to pick our kids up, pls queue closer to the car in front. I often see big gaps betwn cars and usually re female drivers. we cause a huge jam all the time and i wish we could set a better e.g. for our kids. a little consideration will make it a better place for everyone else.
Thanks for sharing. There are many of such people around. Your kid is very sensible and well brought up as she could tell you that lady is setting bad example.

                        edgrace,

how does moe sniff out principals who extend favours? i know of kids getting into this popular school along the bt timah belt at the end of the year, after all the p1 registration fiasco is over. they have no clan / church associations nor PV and they stay >2km away. The only association i can think of is these kids have parent(s) who know the school P in some way.

The school can always say there were withdrawals at the end of the year and they have the discretion to admit any other students.

It's pretty difficult to track right?

like you, i'm also pretty amused with the hype in this thread. does it only happen to this thread? :siam:
                        zeemini,

i think the best/only way is to refer this particular principal to MOE. He/she then will have to provide the reasons for admitting the child in. After that... we will all have to accept the outcome of the investigation, i'm sure šŸ™‚

Looks like this only happens on this thread. ( i may be wrong though) I got into it for some info on SJIJ and i got hooked. Actually all was fine and there were plain, healthy discussions going on until threats starting flying in the horizon... oh well.. šŸ™‚ But on another note, it made me pretty sure i won't be admitting my daughter into SCGS in 2014. Too much stress and looking at the property development around the area, it will be too risky!

All the best to you, if you're in the balloting team šŸ™‚
