I think the MOE has a projected O level or A level results that each cohort of students is expected to get based of their COP, PSLE avergae aggregate etc...If the final results exceed the expected value, then it is \"academic value added\". U can pull own to the award column, the got some level one award thingy.....

haha...I just read what you all have written. I agree you should not underestimate RV's student just base on COP.

Last year A level result, one of the three RI top students who got 9 straight As was a former RV boy. Since RV hasn't full IP yet, he finished his O level and go to RI.

If you check the MOE information website, RV is the only school with average COP scores above 255 that won a silver for \"academic value added\". It is the value added that is one of the most important I'll think.
That's also because the other schs are IP schs that do not offer 'O' level classes. Hence they are out of the \"academic value-added\" awards.

Having said that, I do agree that RV is a good sch.

Anyway, the data is updated and is no longer there. I remember the other IP schools that have award for academic value added are ACS(I), Nanyang and Dunman High. So it is not true that it is because the other schools are out of the evaluation. In any case, academic performance evaluation is never out of Singapore education system.

Wah ! Chief really open up Parents Networking Group for Sec school division. Thanks a lot !

Some updates on RV. Moving to new campus officially on 1st Dec. Although its school holidays, many students still go back for CCAs, hence they would go to new campus after 1st Dec. There is a big walk for students and parents from Science Center to Boon Lay Campus on 2nd Jan 2010. My girl is super excited about the new campus ! πŸ˜„

The principal is a super nice and knowledgable lady. The VP is a super friendly man. The school counsellor is super sociable, easy to talk to. These are the feedbacks from my girl.

Do take some photos of the new school campus and post here if anyone of you have a chance.

I have traveled pass that part of Singapore a few weeks ago and the school buildings appear nicer than the model which looks like fire match boxes..... πŸ˜„

Ex-RVHS student myself and just chanced upon this thread

Here's my take on why there are more girls than boys - 'cos RVHS boys have to continue to wear shorts still in Sec 3 & 4

& I chose RV over NYGH then 'cos I prefer RV school uniforms. Hahahaha ...

Honestly, after that, I did regret a little 'cos the uniform material was thick then and require frequent ironing (by myself). However, I had noticed that they had change to a much thinner & cooler now - so all's good.

My strong Chinese foundation and interest was from RVHS !

But now the situation has changed since they are IP. Year 1 to 3, boys wear shorts, girls wear that \"st john's\" uniform. Year 4 to 6, boys wear long pants with plain white shirt, girls wear blue skirt with plain white shirt. πŸ˜„

                        Hi Daisyt,

Would u recommend RV for my ds who did not take HMT for PSLE? And also he got an A for MT though the rest are A*.

In fact , MT is his weakest , which is why i’m worried if he will suffer in RV. If i’m not wrong , can’t drop HMT for MT in RV if he can’t cope with HMT, right?

Your precious and frank opinion is appreciated.
