but at phrase 2c supp will still have to depends on the distance from your house to the school. so if the most vacancies available is the school 1km - 2km from home then will not be in the first priority am i right to say this?
Yep. All vacancies at all phases depends on distance . If Ph2C supp of the school of your choice has only vacancy for less than 1 km thus ballot will only be for those less than 1km thus if you are outside 1km of the second choice school for ph2C Supp you wil want to apply for yout 3rd choice school instead. Call the school of your choice if in doubt of avaliability. They typically will inform you to withdraw and try another school if they know you do not even have a chance to ballot.

Oh.. ok.. so we can norminate a school if P2CS fail. If demand more than supply how ah.. ballot again ??? Distance again ??? 😞

I also don't know how after that as i experienced only till failure at Ph2CSupp ballot last year. But i think by then most kids are already registered so the next avaliable school that you choose would typically br also not that popular hence may still have a fair bit of vacancy. If situation like what you say happens, then have to call MOE & check but i think MOE will give priority to SC and distance.

Daddy 😧
Any stats on how many SC kids end up in Phase 3 each year?

For kids/parents didnt get a place in tomorrow's ballot, and if they would just pick a school within that area or zone, guessed that only 46 kids in Marine Parade and Serangoon would have to venture outside their own.

As for the Phase 3 kids/parents (estimated about 1000), here are the numbers to consider.

Area\t \"Vacancy for Phase 3\"
=== =============
Marine Parade\t-39
Serangoon\t-7
Clementi\t0
Bukit Timah\t13
Bishan\t18
Central\t35
Bukit Panjang\t67
Toa Payoh\t70
Novena\t76
Queenstown\t95
Sembawang\t95
Bukit Merah\t105
Kallang\t122
Jurong East\t129
Jurong West\t137
Geylang\t141
Woodlands\t158
Choa Chu Kang\t164
Hougang\t217
Bukit Batok\t224
Yishun\t226
Punggol\t230
AMK\t241
Bedok\t309
Seng Kang\t311
Pasir Ris\t341
Tampines\t359

Why there is no vacancy for phase 3 in Clementi? Pei Tong still has some places available, right? :scratchhead:

I have to register my child under phase 3. He is already studying in a kindergarten in Singapore. Do I need to provide "The child’s Qualifying Test / Admissions Exercise for International Students letter stating that they are eligible for school admission (if any)" as stated in MOE website.

I think Andychng meant that assuming that all the ppl who r unsuccessful tomorrow will take up the rest of the places in Clementi so there will be no more vacancies in Clementi for Phase 3. (available 132+16+148+125=421) less (registered 129+63+103+126=421)

nite:
Hi,

My dd (2007 born) will be entering P1 in 2014. Looking at the 2007-born birth & new citizen stats and P1 registration this year, it is likely there will be more SC children vying for places in popular schools in 2014 & 2015. Even with the current policy favouring SC children in P2B and P2C, it seems just as hard with most of the places taken up at P1 to P2A2. Case in point, HPPS with only 40 paces for both P2B and P2C. Most of the popular schools are balloting for SC children living within 1km. Look at Rulang, 60 children vying for 10 vacancies. I find it disturbing that these parents have just wasted their chances at P2C with the expected low success rate.

I'm living in the Holland-Queenstown area. The only school within 1km is HPPS. What luck? At this rate, my dd's chances of entering HPPS looks slim. Even if RGPS will be within 1km when my dd starts P1 in 2014, balloting will be based on its current address at Hillcrest. I'll be outside of 2km based on the Hillcrest address. I'm not saying good & popular schools. I don't have any school within 1km except HPPS when it comes to balloting. Somehow, I find the P1 registration system is flawed with most of the places taken up grabs at the earlier phases because the SC policy kicks in only at P2B and P2C. Meaning if I'm staying at Tampines, at P2A1/2, my dd can get into HPPS if I'm an old student. Huh?

MOE should institute the distance and SC criteria for P1 through P2A2 as well.

As for me, at this rate my child's chances of entering HPPS look slim. Can parents here advise/recommend me on the good schools in the Clementi, Queenstown and Bukit Timah area where my dd stands a good chance of entering even if are residing outside of 2km?

Thanks
Hi Nite,

I am in the same boat as you. My gals (paisei i need 2 vacancies cos twins :P) also due for P1 reg next year for 2014 intake. Piggy year, many children were born due to Golden Piggy year? I am living in Holland, directly opp Holland V, pretty near to Fairfield & HPPS. Both sch are within my area but, looking at this year results, dont think I can 'grab' a seat from them no matter 2B or 2C. Cos to Farfield my distance is 1.4km & HPPS 1.5km. I am not able to go for balloting under 2C either cos this yr 2c needs balloting for all under 1km only. Really hopeless here...how ah? sigh.....this system really
sucks. From now 2012 Aug, I got to be very stressed over this until next yr July for registration Sigh !!

Marine Parade\tNgee Ann \t118\t114
Marine Parade\tTanjong Katong 121\t138

The above extracted from MOE website after the 3rd day of 2C registration on Aug 1.
\t
Eg, There are 3\tschools in Marine Parade, total vacancy is 292, total applied is 331. So, about 39 kids would have to apply outside Marine Parade (Serangoon 7kids) after tomorrow.

Knew that there are many worried parents ... so I sum out all vacancies + 2C registered pupil (also from MOE website) by areas.. basically, kids in 2C phase should have places in other schools in the same area Except Marine Parade n Serangoon.

Total Primary 1 Vacancy For 2013 : 41920
Phase 2C Vacancy : 19996
Phase 2C Registered : 16159
Total Registered so far (1 to 2C 😞 38083

PS. 1000 kids in Phase 3C is just my estimate.. So, for Phase 3C parents, probably can skip schools in Marine Parade, Serangoon n Clementi.
