      Love iPad:
Xin Min is band 1 or 2 school?

Anderson Sec is the only neighbourhood school that is band 1. Xin Min is band 2 & Maris Stella is band 3 only.

        Hi MMM & fighting mom,

Nan Chiau High COP = 234 for those who go to Sec 1 in 2011 (band 1) & 236 for those who go to Sec 1 in 2012 (band 2). SAP status is from 2012. 100% accurate info! :boogie:

          Ichigokun:

Please... Now in Sec 1, my bag is so heavy I reach home panting like a mad dog and sweating like a pig after 1.5 hours of travelling by walking, taking the MRT, walking again, taking a bus and walking again.

Moreover I get backaches. Never has this happened in Primary School.

P6 is definitely less stressful than Sec 1.
Ichigokun, you poor thing. My dds will appreciate it more if they read this. They take a sch bus in the morning to go to school and take about 30 to 45 min (if they miss the bus, frequency about 15 min), bus ride about 20 min, to go home in the afternoon

            Huh ?

Sorry mummy so kiasu, am I right to say that from your post - you are telling us that Nan Chiau Sec has dropped from band 1 to band 2 but the COP has increased ? :?

              MMM:
Personally, I thought distance is still a important consideration for sec school.

Their school is 10 mins drive away. For secondary school, the target ones are 20mins - less than 1 hour on public transport.

dd1 is P5 this year had the opportunity to be selected to attend a P5 camp in NYGH this year. She wasn't impressed.... I let her go as I thought it might motivate her. But logistically I don't think it's feasible since we are in the north east area and I don't think she can make it in terms of results.... She also went to Chung Cheng Main before and came back telling me it's like a temple... :faint: Her target is TKGS.

ds is P4. Maris Stella would be ideal for him in terms of location, academic level and his passion. But I was contemplating if I should let him try DSA at SJI when his time comes.... It's not far if we drive but that area's public transport seems challenging though.... :?
SJI would be in holding site (Bishan ITE, next to Bishan MRT) for 2014 & 2015.

For 2016, when its back at Malcolm Road, it will be served by downtown line Stevens MRT station next to SCGS.

Interesting poll. I would like to choose an co-ed IP for my children.

You are right to say that. From band 2 (2010) to band 1 (2011) & then back to band 2 (2012). I am waiting for the latest Sec School Selection booklet from MOE (2013) to find out whether they could get back to band 1 or still remain as band 2. It's COP went up due to the new SAP status. COP is base on popularity which means demand & it has nothing to do with its banding. There are some band 2 schools COP lower than band 3 schools ( Zhonghua & Maris Stella) Anyway, being a band 2 school is still one of the good schools, considering Maris Stella is only band 3.

Then it is either NJC, DHS or RVHS, depending on where you stay and which is nearer to you. Of course you can also consider NUSH which though is not IP, is still a 6-year thru' diploma programme.
