Hi all, PSLE Chinese Oral is round the corner. Just to check, does ur DC memorise some of the impressive phrases so as to score higher point? I recently met a teacher friend and he shared some tips with me that some DC memorise these phrases by heart. But when it comes to the actual oral day, some got too panick and forget these phrases And they cried in front of the examiner. What's your take ? Do your DC have the same strategy or U want them to talk it naturally ?

isetan, what i did was get my DS to remember some nouns, esp for Chinese Oral. Eg Recycle bin, Covered Walkway etc. Yesterday, I just told him to memorise nouns related to National Day, like parade, inspection ceremony, etc. I feel that the children, at least for my DS, know limited nouns for Chinese Language. Once they know those nouns, they should be able to form sentences.
When I revised the Oral with my DS in P3, I asked him what is \"Supermarket\" in Chinese, his reply : 超级巴刹 !!!!! :faint:
During his P3 oral, he doesn't know what is farm in Mandarin, so he said : 有很多动物的地方. Again :faint: . It is then I realise how impt it is to memorise the nouns.

Good advice :)I remembered 2 years ago, when ds was having his p6 prelim oral, he did not know what restaurant is in Chinese. He said 人们去吃饭的地方. I think there is a thread in this forum that is on the common nouns in Chinese.
Good luck to all p6 in their psle oral on thur and fri.
Thanks for your advice. Really appreciate .

CL is my ds 克星! Despite having enrichment since P1, & changing to 1-1 tuition in P3, his result goes downhill. He failed CL paper 2 for both his sa1 & prelim. Haiz, can only hope his other component will enable him to pass. But with the bulk of the cohort being gd in CL, it may push up the passing score. Can only pray for miracles.

Thanks fightingmom. I really do not know what to do with him now. He would rather sleep, wonder about than sit down with me to seriously go through the paper.

Could he be over-stressed? Some people sleep more to excape stress. Maybe a few days off and some management of expectations may help.

My boy is also sleeping a lot after school. But ok on weekends. Have to motivate and encourage him more too. Or else he will be burnt too fast. When I see him too stressed, I keep him at home like once a week to sleep in and revise. Being pumped with paper after paper can be frustrating and stressful.
Maybe you can bring him for ice cream and ask if there is anything bothering him. Hope he can open up.

On my ds's Entry Proof, the start time shows 8am for both days of oral. But my ds told me he is in session 2 for Day 1 (according to his teacher). I am a bit concerned as there is no written notification. Where did your dc get the timing?

But session 2 will be at about 1030. My son is also having oral at 8am. He told me he is 2nd student. There are 6 of them including him in that group.

Hi Janet, pls advice if they need to bring entry proof to the oral or exam? Ez card perhaps ? For ID clarification ?

I am not sure what has to be brought to sit for PSLE exam/oral…the briefing is only held next Wednesday. But I know student pass is needed as verification.

Take the opportunity to get more rest to prevent burn out. Bring the kids out to get some fresh air so that they will not be nervous on PSLE Oral days.

Will ask hubby to apply leave on Friday. Then we can have time out after the first hurdle. 😓 lethargic of late. No school on those 2 days for kids in other levels. Short week but not that short...you know what I mean?

Right after the PSLE oral, it will be the prelims. I am expecting a tough one...so will remind my boy to take it easy and don't get too stressed over it.
                  Look at the BIG picture.

DS just told me this :\"Just treat PSLE as SA2 exam & study as usual, then we all won't feel stress. Just treat PSLE oral teachers as new teacher in school, then won't feel nervous.\" He makes me realise that over emphasis on PSLE may create unnecessary stress to both parents & children. Maybe, we should all relax a bit during this period. 😄
