Hi

I was superstressed during the phase 2CS balloting. Nearly broke down when my girl was balloted out.

My girl likes her form teacher the best. There are no exams for P1 & P2, however, they will have 2 tests for each subject in each term, which I find it useful as this will be a gage on whether your child is catching up in the school work. There are also enrichment programs in each term which are conducted during curriculum hours. Term 1 - English Speech & Drama, Term 2 - Chinese Speech & Drama and Term 3 - Maths enrichment.
How did you select OEPS after the 2c supplmentary? Did you fill up a form with 3 schools for selection? During that year ow many vacancies where there at oeps after the 2c supplmentary exercise when the exercise close at 4:30pm on the last day?

Hi Alwayslucky

On the day of balloting, for those who fail to secure a place, the school will give you a form immediately to fill in 3 choices of school. They will then fax the form to MOE to allocate the school of your choice. Imagine how devastated I was that time…on one side of the classroom you see the who were successful, happily queuing up to get the admission letters for orientation. On the other side were those unsuccessful ones, queuing up to get the form for MOE to allocate a place.

If I remembered correctly, OEPS have 30plus vacancies for those who failed in phase 2C(S) during last year’s registration.

Well, OPES is also not my 1st choice of school ... But i have no regret in choosing OPES ( within 2 km ) for my 2nd choice last year.

My girl like the school so much that i have no trouble to wake her up for school every morning at 6am (to be in time for school bus) ... She like her form teacher too... And she gets to know the different cultures from her other classmates ... 😄
I noticed that the principal & teachers will be there to giude the children after school lessons when i went to pick my girl.
I feel that there is connection between the teachers & parents. The studying pace is just right for me ( A working mum ) & my girl.

Most important of all, my girl is happy , making alot of friends & no issue in copying the school work ... 😂
Can understand if yr child taking school bus?
If you working how you pick up yr child from sch bus?

i’m staying bedok central. My girl will take the school bus back to student care after school. As CCA is not compulsory for P1 & 2, thus, she didnt join any for now.

the school will issue a CCA prospectus to all parents including the CCA Policies and Framework.

Based on this year (2012) CCA list , CCA avail for P1 are:
• Table Tennis
Angklung
Chinese Dance
Fusion Dance
Drama
Art
Chess
Brownies
Scouts
•
There are some CCA only open to P3 onwards such as :
• Athletics
Floorball
Netball
Soccer
Robotics
IT
•
Different CCA have diff practice day, Mon, Tue or/and Thur, but timing is same from 2-4pm.

Note : Some CCA require trial/audition.

My boy is in Table Tennis which conducted on every Tue and Wed. I remember Art Club is once a week on Tue and Chess Club is once a week on Mon.

For transport, the bus operator offers per trip service, ie. they charge by each CCA day pick up apart from the regular fare. Details you have to check with the operator.
