      Can someone help.

      Alvin had 5/6 of a pizza.
      Sam had only part of an identical pizza
      Alvin gave 1/6 of his pizza to Sam.
      In the end, both of them had the same amount of pizza,
      What fraction of a pizza had Sam at first?
      Thanks.

        Is the answer Sam had 1/2 or 3/6 part of a pizza?

          I also think it is 1/2 of the pizza but 5/9.

            Alvin --> 5/6 pizza = 30/36 pizza
            1/6 --> 5/36 pizza
            After giving 1/6, left --> 25/36 pizza
            Sam, at first --> 25/36 pizza - 5/36 pizza = 20/36 pizza = 5/9 pizza

            cheers.

                      Hi,

                      Kindly advise how to do this problem with model. Thanks in advance for the answer.

                      Mary had 3 times more bookmarks than June.
                      After Mary gave 2 bookmarks to June, Mary had 3 times as many bookmarks as June.
                      How many bookmarks did June have at first?

                        Hi,

                        Are you sure the problem is correct? After Mary gives 2 book marks to June, she can't have the same number as before?
