hi any parents of girls going P1 in 2013? It's awfully quiet in here! It will be good to get connected to at least a few of u for sharing of information going fwd.

Hello! As you already know, mine will be gg to p1 next year too.

      Yes becknat68 I won't forget about u 😜

Is your DD getting all excited about going to P1? My DD1 is excited but a bit apprehensive too. She is a bit shy and takes a while to warm up. Hope she will meet some nice girls from her class! 😉

There’s 6 classes of P1s & 2s with around 30 - 34 students per class. Students can opt for various enrichments on Orientation Day, or not if they prefer. Students will be offered enrichments in P2 & P3, but CCA is only compulsory from P4. Check put the school website, SCGS.edu.sg, for more details.

Students will also be exposed to various other enrichments throughout their primary school, both run by school teachers and external vendors. For instance, in P1, my dd’s cohort were taught roller blading after exams. They did a term of dance classes for PE, culminating in a performance at the end of the year to which all parents were invited. They’re also introduced to golf, chess, art appreciation, Chinese tea drinking appreciation, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese wayang, and lots of other things that i haven’t touched on, over the years. Some are run during term time, some after exam activities (so please do not plan to leave for a holiday before the official end of term), some run during extended (1hr) recess … Oh, and some of these activities a run by parent volunteers, so please do join in.

                  hi dads & mums

We went for the P1 orientation last week and bought the P1 books on the same day. I looked through the titles and I have a qn: Why is there no textbook for English? How is English taught in P1? Would appreciate if existing parents could share their knowledge!

                  TIA!

My DD who's in P1 this year had an English textbook (at least 1). However, her P2 booklist for 2013 does not. Per the lady at the bookshop, the school does not require the girls to buy any English textbook. So my guess is that the school is going to rely on their own worksheets + other materials.
