Hi mathsparks,
Hmmm ... k
1. Hair turn gray (already) - check
2. Spare tyre ard waist (a bit) - check
3. Snoring (started eons ago) - check
4. Lack energy
5. Long sightedness
6. Balding
No comments abt the last 3.

As for lao hua yan, i felt like i was almost getting it. Difficulty reading small print, dry eyes when looking at computer.
Then i stumbled on an article which says that drinking chyrsanthemum tea with wolfberry can be used to retard the progression. I have been drinking it for a year now (1L/day, i bring to work and drink), and so far not experiencing those symptoms already! -
I started excerise when I turned 40; I am super fit now and feel so good.
Grey hair cannot be avoided.
Other than that I am loving myself more after I turn 40. -
1. Hair turn gray β Not so bad for me but dye black once in a while. Partly motivated by wife telling me "do and dye lah!"
2. Spare tyre ard waist β Waist disappeared a while back. Spare tyre still smaller than carβs.
3. Snoring β Never had that problem. Wifey does.
4. Lack energy β OK after 1-2 years. Same with short-term memory loss.
5. Long sightedness β Yup. Now wearing progressive lenses.
6. Balding β OK here. Botakness is a hereditary thing so, for men, if your maternal grandfather wasnβt botak, youβre ok. And stay away from MSG-loaded food. -
DHβs turning 40 in a few days time.
1 Hair Turning Grey - no such problem. DH shaves his head since he started balding since 10yrs ago
2. Spare Tyre - shrinking lately cos he started exercising. He says to prove to me he has a 6 pack hidden somewhere under those excesses.
3. Snoring - No problem since he lost weight
4. Lack energy - not experiencing it
5. Long sightednes - yup since last year
6. Balding - refer to pt 2.
So far, turning 40 seems to have more positive outcome then negative for DH. He has quit smoking as well. -

Well, like all things there's a range, plus minus couple of years. Don't forget, things are happening eariler and earlier nowadays.
I always thought that mid-life crisis started when one was in his late forties, nearing fifties, hence the term pre mid-life. . . Cars too, but not into extravagant purchases - mainly looking for Golf GTI (his ultimate dream car)
Golfs are not exactly cheap . . . he might tell you GTI, but really looking at R32
Anyway, moral of the story is . . . . just let him do what he wants :!: . . . even if it's a Ferrari ! :!: -

Aaaaannnd.... what's your itch, bro?

Hahaha... Juz lamenting... My only concern when I hit the big 4 is that my metabolism will reduce drastically resulting in a weight surge... Which in turn affects my self-image... thus affecting my confidence... Then my morale... Becomes moody...affects family etc etc etc...
Ok just trying to be funny... Not discounting that this is a concern for most people approaching middle-age and I know that my time will come soon. I guess what would help is our attitude and approach towards life.
As long as we approach every stage of our life by... Maintaining a positive outlook... Taking things one step at a time... Embracing and accepting the challenges (be it mental/physical) at comes at the different stages... Finding alternatives/solutions to the challenges... Not be unduely stressed by it... Having the faith and belief that things will work out. We will find that we are able to overcome these challenges :celebrate:
Hmmm am I making sense? Am going through a rough patch now and not having enough rest... But life must still go on

Wow I do not need to wait till 40... I already suffer from pts 1 - 4 that you mentioned above :oops:Let me scare all you big daddies further. :!:
First, your hair will slowly turn gray, then you'll need to color it each time you go to the barber. After that, the spare tyre around your waist will grow. And if that's not insulting enough, you'll start to snore (if you havent yet). And after that, you lack energy to do anything and need to resort to Eu Yan Sang's lingzhi. Oh ya, dont forget somewhere along the way, you'll develop long-sightedness which that fab machine aka eye-relax can help. And some guys will start to bald as well.
Need more advice, pm me so I dont scare you guys further. I'm a wifey who has seen hubby age. -
